The Rolling Stones and the Law of Attraction

LOA, or the Law of Attraction, can be a very helpful practice. Based on the Hermetic wisdom of “like attracts like,” the Law of Attraction tells us that we can manifest what we want in life.

Often our fears and negative thoughts keep us from living the life we desire. If we release those fears we can push past our self-imposed limitations into a more fulfilling life.

One of my problems with the Law of Attraction is that it often causes people to blame themselves when things don’t go the way they prefer. The feeling becomes “If I don’t get what I want, I must be doing something wrong.”

It’s always good to take a clear assessment of our attitudes and actions to make sure we are not sabotaging ourselves. Sometimes, though, we don’t get what we want for reasons completely beyond our control.

I have an issue with a philosophy that says the Universe wants us to have whatever we want. I think our path is sometimes more complex than that. I also think some people try to use the Law of Attraction to feed greed rather than need.

It’s good to know what you want. It’s good to be proactive in getting what you want. Sometimes, though, we have to accept that something different than what we wanted is what has happened. Sometimes that may happen as a result of our being unsure, uncommitted or unfocused. Sometimes our fear may get it in way. Once in a while what happens has absolutely nothing to do with us. Then our challenge is simply to respond to what is without pondering over why it is. We just have to trust the Universe.

That’s where the Rolling Stones come in. In these situations it’s good to remember their words of wisdom.

“You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need.”
