Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day set aside to honor those who have given their lives defending our country. I think most Americans have at least one person in their family who bravely served, or is now serving.

Memorial Day has also become the unofficial start of summer.

It is interesting that we find a way to balance such a somber holiday with a weekend of fun and frivolity.

It is also exactly the way it should be on Memorial Day, and in life.

Life is filled with difficulty and loss. Life is also filled with joy and pleasure.

There is no better way to honor those who have made sacrifices for us than by enjoying our lives to the fullest.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend, however you choose to celebrate it!

Summer Fun with Tarot

Summer is a great time to work with tarot, and there are so many ways to do that. You can hire a tarot reader for you family picnic. You can plan a picnic with your tarot friends and spend the day enjoying the cards together.

If you want to study tarot, now is a great time to start. Bring a tarot deck and instructional book to the beach and begin your tarot journey.

If you are already an accomplished reader, take this time to learn a new tarot skill. There are many advanced learning opportunities available in tarot.

Your tarot cards will easily travel with you on vacation.

Remember that tarot is useful in a variety of ways. Tarot provides entertainment and recreation, as well as personal growth, insight, inspiration and spiritual connection.

This summer, explore the many ways that tarot can fit into your life!

The Four Seasons in Tarot

Many tarot teachers assign a particular season to each of the four suits of the Minor Arcana. This can be particularly helpful in figuring out timing when doing predictive readings.

The interesting thing is that there is no particular agreement between tarotists about which seasons to association with which suits.

Remembering that the suit of Pentacles relates to the element of Earth, Swords to Air, Wands to Fire and Cups to Water, which season fits best with which suit for you?

Look through your tarot deck and find seasonal references in the images. How do you think seasons relate to the Four Elements?

If you assign seasons to each suit does that help you with your predictive readings?

Is there any other way that seasonal references are helpful to you in tarot reading?

Tarot is a contemplative tool in many ways. We always have the ability to decide which techniques and associations work best for us.

By looking at the images and thinking about traditional associations (like the Four Elements) we are able to dig deeper into our own tarot understanding and to forge a more direct connection with our cards.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your One-Card reading for this week is the Six of Cups.

Drawn at random, this card is very appropriate for Memorial Day.

The Six of Cups is about happy memories and nostalgia.

The Six of Cups reminds us to look to the past, and honor our memories.

The Six of Cups tells us to value our long-standing relationships.

When we look to our past we remember who we are.

There is a warning here, too. We cannot spend our lives living in the past. We must always grow, and always move forward.

The Six of Cups helps us to find a balance between the past and the future.
