Kindness 
 

On June 2nd Christiana’s Psychic Café ran a special feature. I asked twelve people to answer this question. What is one thing we can do to create a better world?

Everyone’s answer was terrific. The last answer came from my long-time friend Martha, who is a Christian pastor. Her answer was simply this – “kindness.” She said that although kindness is a simple concept, being kind can challenging.

How can we challenge ourselves to be kind? Kindness doesn’t mean letting people walk on you. Kindness doesn’t mean not sticking up for what’s right.

Kindness can be about compassion and selflessness.

Kindness can help us do the hard right thing to help someone else.

Kindness can be about addressing difficult issues in a compassionate way.

Kindness can be about overlooking someone else’s mistakes, and forgiving their wrong-doings.

We need to be kind to ourselves. We need to be kind to each other. We need to be kind to our planet.

By making kindness a priority, we create a better world.

Exploring a Trip to Connecticut

I am exploring the feasibility of making a short trip to Connecticut this August. I will have the ability to do a limited number of psychic house parties during that time.

Kindness in Tarot

One of the best representations of kindness in the tarot deck is Major Arcana 8, Strength.

Strength is often pictured as a woman and a lion. The woman may be stroking the lion, or have her hand in the lion’s mouth.

The lion represents the fierce, wild, animal nature within us all.

The woman represents the gentle, kind nature that is also within us.

Both of these elements, the woman and the lion, are part of us.

The lion helps us be brave. The lion allows us to be powerful when we need to be.

In the picture, the gentle woman is clearly in control of the wild lion. Her hand tames him, but does not take away his power.

This is a picture of how kindness works. The gentle, compassionate side of ourselves must always be in control. To act in anger is rarely kind. To act in compassion usually is.

What's Up at the Psychic Café?

On the June 2nd Psychic Cafe our theme was "Creating a Better World." We asked a group of twelve people this question. What is one thing we could do to create a better world?"

We asked musicians, Pagans, Christians, tarot readers, a fashion model and a farmer.

Their answers are simple, poignant, brilliant and doable.

We also had a review of Magickal Times Empowerment Cards and String Band covering a Donna the Buffalo song.

Kind Solutions Tarot Spread

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one-card reading for the week is the Four of Pentacles.

Traditionally, the Four of Pentacles is “The Miser’s Card.”

The Four of Pentacles can suggest that a person is behaving selfishly.

The Four of Pentacles may also describe a situation or a feeling of impoverishment or financial stress. You may be worried, either rightly or wrongly, about a lack of resources.

The Four of Pentacles can also serve as a reminder to take care of yourself. There are times you need to make yourself a priority, and take care of your own needs. Don’t give away what you can’t afford to give away.

The Four of Pentacles is about resources; time, money and energy. When you see this card, ask yourself these questions.

Is there someone around me who is behaving selfishly?

Am I being too selfish?

Are my resources limited at this time?

Am I overly cautious about my resources?

How well am I setting boundaries with others?

Am I making my own needs enough of a priority?

How can I nurture myself better?
