Think Spring! This past week ushered in the season of spring, officially at least. Many people are still dealing with chilly temperatures, and even snow! It’s hard to welcome the renewal of spring when the weather is still so wintery. Nonetheless, trees are budding, bird are migrating and soon the weather will surely match the calendar! In most cultures, spring is considered a time of rebirth, renewal, regeneration and rejuvenation. Now is the time for us to welcome new energies, clear away the cobwebs and prepare for a time of productivity and prosperity. As the Earth is renewed, so are we. That’s true even in places where the snow is still falling! |
Spring Cleaning Tarot Exercise Spring is the time to clean, redecorate and garden. We get rid of what we no longer need, and create pleasant space in which to enjoy the coming summer. Sometimes our lives need a little “spring cleaning,” just as our homes do. Here is an exercise to help you clear away the winter and welcome the spring in your own life. First, shuffle you deck and think about your internal “spring cleaning.” Next pull six cards from the deck at random. These cards represent your life as it is now. You may do “spring cleaning” with these cards in two ways. You may remove as many of the cards as you like. If these cards represent energies that no longer serve you, or things that are leftover from the winter, put them back in the deck while focusing to energetically remove them from your life. You may also turn reversed cards right side up, or you can make upright cards reversed. Your remaining cards represent your life, renewed and ready for spring! |
The Week in Review On March 20th, the Vernal Equinox, it was time for another Tarot Blog Hop. This time the theme was rebirth and renewal. Read my offering, and follow the links to see what twenty-three other tarot bloggers had to say on the same topic! On the Dark Forest blog I announce that my search for great falafel in West Palm Beach has finally come to a successful conclusion! This week we had some great contributions to the Tarot Topics Community Blog. Joanne Matthew contributed a thoughtful post on “Symbolism and Reading Tarot.” Linda Moore added to her “Tarot in my Life” blog with “What I Learned from the Ace of Cups.” I added to my “Answers to your Questions about Tarot” video series. This time the question was about “Tarot Journaling and Deck Choices.” From Around the Web I was really happy to see this article in Huffington Post. Read “10 Things Highly Intuitive People do Differently.” Theresa Reed, the Tarot Lady, wants to see more kindness in the world and she’s doing something about it! Read “The Kindness Hustle.” For my tarot students and friends, here is a smart piece from Alison Cross on her “This Game of Thrones” blog about the tarot Court Cards. I really enjoyed Alison’s post about significators. |
Equinox: A Time for Balance March 20th was the vernal equinox; the first day of spring. Many people see the vernal equinox as a time to focus on issues of balance, since on that day the time of sunlight and the time of darkness are of equal length. Balance is an important concept in tarot. Many tarot cards reference balance as one of their key words. Often a tarot reading will point out the need for balance in our lives, or give us clues as to how to create that balance. Some of the cards in the Major Arcana that speak specifically of balance include the High Priestess, the Lovers, Justice and Temperance. In the Minor Arcana all four twos can speak of balance. The Six of Pentacles also refers to balance. When these cards show up in your tarot reading, reflect on the ways you need to find better balance in your life. As an exercise, pull these cards from your deck and look at them. How does each card express the concept of balance? What can you learn from each card to bring balance into your life? |
What’s Up at the Psychic Café? This past Sunday, March 23rd, we tackled an important topic on the Psychic Café. A panel of full-time metaphysical professionals discussed the best ways to market with free offers, and when it is good and helpful to give our services away, and when it’s not. Most metaphysical professionals work to run successful businesses that are also, on some level, ministries. Each of my guests shared their ideas and experiences about marketing, charity involvement, boundaries and spirituality, within the context of owning a business. My guests were Amethyst Mahoney, Gary Karp, Jenna Matlin, Saxz Stevens and Hillary Gauvreau. The “business panel” format was exciting and informative! You can watch this special show in archive on the Tarot Topics news site. This coming Sunday, March 30th, Jordan Hoggard returns to the Psychic Café. We are looking forward to continuing our ongoing conversation about tarot, art, spirituality and the planet! Get ready to call in for your free on-air readings! For more information, visit the show info page, and don’t forget to like Christiana’s Psychic Café on Facebook. |
Learning Tarot: Four of Wands In tarot, four is the number of stability. There are four seasons, four elements and four legs to a table. Wands, of course, is the suit of Fire, associated with creativity, passion and spirituality. Therefore, we might see the Four of Wands as “stable fire.” This could refer to the hearth fire that heats the home and cooks the food. Traditionally, the Four of Wands is the card of marriage. It can discuss or predict a marriage or engagement, or attendance at a wedding. Other key words for the Four of Wands include celebration, success, stability and happiness. As we look at the suit of Wands, we see the story that began with an inspiration in the ace, continued with the planning in the two, saw first success in the three and is now celebrating and building on that success in the four. Next week we will continue the story with the Five of Wands. |
Your One-Card Weekly Reading Your One-Card reading this week is the Queen of Cups. Often, the Queen of Cups will refer to a woman in your life, especially a woman who is sensitive and compassionate. The Queen of Cups directs us to recognize and nurture our emotions, and the emotions of others. This week, resist the urge to bury your feelings, or to run away from your emotions. In an appropriate time and space, take a moment to inventory and acknowledge your feelings. Know that one of the best things you can do for the people around you is to acknowledge their emotions, and to remind them that it is ok to feel things. The Queen of Cups reminds us also to nurture intuition. Now is the time to truly value your receptive, intuitive nature. |
