Explore Your Creativity!

We all know some really talented creative people. The value of creativity, though, is not just about using the talents that come easily. Sometimes being creative is a struggle. Sometimes the value is not as much in the finished product as it is in the process.

When we were children, we were all encouraged to paint, draw, dance, play an instrument and sing, regardless of our talent level.

When we got older, many of us forgot one simple thing. It’s fun to be creative, and it’s fun to share creativity with others.

Beyond being fun and nurturing of our Inner Child, creativity can be healing, and can help us connect with our spirituality.

Whether it’s cooking, gardening, writing, dancing or drawing, now is a great time to explore your creativity! Learn something new, or revisit something you enjoyed in your youth.

Creative Tarot Cards

There are quite a few tarot cards that can indicate creativity. The Minor Arcana suit of Wands is related to the element of Fire, often associated with creative energy. In each of the fourteen Wands cards we can see some aspect of creativity.

Many of the Major Arcana cards could be interpreted to reference creativity in one way or another. Temperance, sometimes known as Art or Alchemy, specifically references a creative process.

The Three of Pentacles is sometimes seen as a creative profession, and the Ace of Swords can indicate writing. Many of the Court characters could have creative tendencies, or could encourage creativity in a reading.

That so many cards can reference the creative process in a reading is testament to the importance of creativity in our lives.

The Week in Review

I couldn’t resist any longer! This week I acquired my first Lenormand deck. You can read my review and watch my video review on my Tarot Trends personal blog.

On my Dark Forest blog, I wrote about a new entertainment trend that is making me very happy.

On the Tarot Topics Community Blog, Linda Moore share a post from her “Tarot in My Life” blog. Read “Making a Choice Changes your Life.”

Also on the Community Blog, I shared a piece called “Tarot, Tattoos and the Wheel of Fortune.”

From Around the Web

This week I want to feature some websites that help encourage creativity.

Do you know about Etsy.com? This is where talented, creative people sell their creations. You might enjoy doing some shopping, or even setting up your own shop!

What about Deviantart.com? You will be amazed at some of the artwork people are doing!

Finally, if you want to gather with others to learn something new, make sure you join Meetup.com, enter you zip code and search on your area of interest. Whether it’s playing ukulele, knitting or learning tarot, you are likely to find what you are looking for, and meet some great people in the process.

Card two: The Plan. This card discusses the logistics, planning and execution of your project. It may give you a heads-up about potential problems or helpful solutions.

Card three: The Finished Project. This card will discuss the far-reaching impact of your project, and give you a sense of how it will be received.

Feel free to expand this reading by asking more specific questions about your project and pulling additional cards to flesh out your ideas.

Learning Tarot: Page of Wands

Each Minor Arcana suit contains a Court of four characters. In the Waite Rider Smith (RWS) tradition, those characters are Page, Knight, Queen and King.

These “Court Cards” can represent people in our lives. They can also represent aspects of ourselves, and encourage us to nurture particular traits. Court cards can also predict specific events, or advise particular actions.

To some extent, the personality of each Court character is determined by the element of their suit. In this case, the element of Fire tells us that our Page is creative, competitive, funny, outgoing and energetic.

Typically Pages represent youth, and younger people. Technically, Pages are considered female, but in a reading Pages can represent either gender. In some decks, Pages are called “Princesses.”

Pages can be students or messengers, or can indicate schooling or communication.

The Page of Wands is often pictured as a young person getting ready to make an announcement.

When you see the Page of Wands in a reading, it might indicate a younger person who is creative, enthusiastic, athletic or artistic, and talented.

The Page of Wands could also indicate a person of any age who is committed to learning something new, especially something that is creative, athletic or spiritual.

The Page of Wands may appear to encourage you to become a student of something creative, exciting or spiritual. That is, something about which you are passionate.

The Page of Wands may advise you to communicate about your passions; to write, speak or market yourself.

The Page of Wands may predict that you will receive some exciting news!

Next week we will meet the Knight of Wands.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one-card reading this week is the Eight of Swords.

In the language of tarot, the swords often represent our thoughts, fears and anxieties, as well as unkind words.

Here we see a person who is blindfold and bound, and in a cage made of their own thoughts.

This week, take a look at the ways you are imprisoning yourself.

How do your thoughts or words hold you back?

In what ways are you limiting yourself?

Do you give the unkind words of others too much credence?

Do you give power to irrational fears?

This week, remember you power, and do not allow others to limit you.

Give yourself permission to be happy and successful.

Worry less, trust more.
