Peace

I’ve always resonated with the message of the “Prayer of Saint Francis.” It says, in part: “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love.”

I appreciate the idea that we can each be an instrument, or a tool, through which Higher Power works to bring peace to the world. The concept of being a bringer of peace is larger than any one world view or spiritual belief system.

I was surprised to learn that the “Prayer of Saint Francis” dates back only to 1912, and was clearly not written by the Saint. Nonetheless, its simple message is comforting, encouraging and empowering. We can each be an instrument of peace. We can each bring hope, light and joy to the world.

To do this, we must first find peace within.

As we each find that place of inner balance, we each become an instrument of peace in the outer world.

Three Tarot Cards for Peace

There are many tarot cards that can indicate, advice or encourage peace and balance. Here are the three which I feel most clearly speak of peace.

When you see these cards in a reading, know that there may be a need to seek peace.

You can also use these cards to help manifest a more peaceful energy around you, though meditation and reflection.

The High Priestess is the card of serenity, balance, wisdom and meditation. Associated with perfection in womanhood, the High Priestess sits between the pillars of mercy and severity. In meditation she is able to access the dream world, and the world of the subconscious.

The Two of Swords is often seen as a card of choices and decisions. We balance between two ideas, or two directions. The blindfold suggests that we can have no outside influence. The heart is crossed off, indicating a need to be logical, rather than emotional.

In the Thoth Tarot, the Two of Swords has the keyword of “Peace.” The Two of Swords teaches us the practical nature of finding peace; to be at peace even when we don’t know what comes next, or when we can’t see ahead.

The Four of Swords is typically the card of retreat, meditation and recovery. This card indicates the peace we find when we have no other choice. That is, the peace we find when we take time to heal. The Four of Swords suggests the need to back away from a battle that can’t be won.

As we can see, each of these cards addresses the concept of “peace” in a different way.

The High Priestess finds peace by looking deeply within, and finding perfect balance.

The Two or Swords makes peace by accepting a situation as it is in the moment.

The Four of Swords makes peace by seeking healing.

The Week in Review

This week on my Tarot Trends personal blog, I wrote about my work as a tarot teacher, and some of the developments I’ve noticed in the world of tarot education. Read “Tarot Study Online Opportunities.”

On my Tarot Topics Community Blog, I answered another question about tarot, with an article and a video. This time the topic is “Buying a First Deck and the Wild Unknown Tarot.”

On my Dark Forest blog I wrote a rant about a type of cyberbullying that many people find perfectly acceptable. I don’t. Read “The Cyberbullying we Love to Do” and find out why.

I know that some of you really love tarot apps. Have you visited The Fool’s Dog, to see all the different tarot deck apps they have?

Another great tarot resource is Aeclectic Tarot, offering deck reviews, forums and more!

From Carrie Paris, here is a post about “Divining with the 5 Platonic Solids.” If you are interested in divination and metaphysics, you need to check out this divination method.

What’s Up at the Psychic Café?

This past week on the Psychic Café my guest was Brigit Esselmont of Biddy Tarot. If you missed the show, you will definitely want to see this one in archive.

Brigit and I discussed her website, BiddyTarot.com, which offers a great number of free resources for tarot students. We discussed the path that took her from earning a degree in commerce and working in the corporate world to, just two years ago, making the decision to make tarot teaching her full-time work.

Next week we will enjoy an encore presentation of our show featuring an interview and readings with Barbara Graver. Barbara is an angel reader, intuitive and broadcaster, and owner of the New Age Review.

Christiana’s Psychic Café is my weekly webcast. It airs on the Para Encounters Network, each Sunday at 9 pm Eastern.

Archived webcasts available on my YouTube channel.

You can also see the archives cataloged on the Tarot Topics News Site.

Learning Tarot: Seven of Cups

In the Rider Waite Smith image of the Seven of Cups we see a figure dwarfed by his own imaginings. In his vision, he sees cups dancing in front of him, each filled with something different.

Some of the cups are desirable. Other, much less so.

Here, in our journey through the watery suit of Cups, we come to the place where we must look inside at our own feelings, and make the choices that feel right for us.

Sometimes the Seven of Cups can indicate confusion or illusion.

When we see the Seven of Cups, we need to make sure we are grounded in reality, and are clear-minded as we assess our situation.

In tarot, the number seven often indicates the choices, processes and lessons that we must make and endure on our own, without help from anyone else.

In the Seven of Cups, we have the opportunity to make some decisions. We also have the need to seek clarity, and to make sure we know what is real and what is not.

Next week we will continue the journey with the Eight of Cups.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one-card reading this week is The Empress.

Typically, the Empress can refer to motherhood, and issues of hearth and home.

The Empress is a card of abundance, luxury and authority.

When we see the Empress, we know that now is a time for the disciplined creativity that makes a house a home.

The Empress nurtures and creates, and invites you to explore your own creative energies, and to do the things that you find nurturing.

Sometimes, the Empress appears to remind us of our matriarchal ancestors in spirit.

Sometimes, the Empress indicates our need to heal from mother issues.

When the Empress appears, it is time to get busy taking care of you!

Now is a time to invest in successful projects.

Now is a time to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Now is a time to pamper yourself just a little!

This week, enjoy your home, nurture your family, take care of yourself and manifest your abundance!
