Lighten Up!

As daylight diminishes and nights grow longer, it is easy for our thoughts to become more serious. Some people experience depression and anxiety from the lack of sunlight. Others find the approaching holiday season a source of stress.

At this time of year, more than any other, we must remember the importance of humor, play, and silliness.

Certainly, many serious things in life need our attention. Many fun things in life need our attention, too.

Don’t let the dark sky darken your mood! Make an effort to lighten up and enjoy the wonderful moments of life.

Lighten Up with Tarot

Did you know that there are some very silly tarot decks in the world? Have you ever seen Gummy Bear Tarot, or the Housewives Tarot?

The thing is, you can do serious readings with funny decks. Sometimes, the light energy of the deck works well to help us find the lighter side of our situation.

There are certain tarot cards, regardless of the deck, that can instruct us to lighten up, or to see the world in a more optimistic way.

The Fool reminds us to enjoy life’s journey without fear.

The Hermit asks us to find our own inner light, and to share that with others.

The Sun encourages us to enjoy our own brilliance, without holding back.

As an exercise, look through your tarot deck, card by card. Which cards do you think encourage you to be happy or silly, or to lighten up and have fun?

The Week in Review

On Friday, Halloween, the Tarot Blog Hop hopped again. Our wrangler asked to write about one person, living or dead, with whom we would like to have tea this Halloween. I couldn’t really answer the question, but I managed to write a post about it. You can read my contribution, and follow the links to see how an international group of tarot enthusiasts answered the question.

On my Tarot Topics Community Blog, I posted a piece for professional readers about the best way to give away samples of your work.

On my Dark Forest blog, I wrote some thoughts about Election Day.

From Around the Web

I was happy to have one of my recent blog post featured in Theresa Reed’s “Mad Hookups” for November 2014.  You’ll be interested to see who else made the list!

Did you know that November is National Novel Writing Month? So many people I know want to write a novel. If you are one of them, it’s not too late to get started on NaNoWriMo!

Do you want to know what energies will be around you during the month of November? Check out Zuri’s forecasts!

Is Tarot Funny?

Tarot is a deeply spiritual tool, filled with secrets, symbols, history and mysticism. Tarot is also packed with humor. You can find humor in tarot simply by looking through a tarot deck. Some decks have intentional humorous references. Others may have images you find unintentionally funny.

There’s no disrespect or irreverence inherent in laughing at your cards.

Sometimes the way the cards come up in readings can be funny, too.

When you read and study tarot, take it seriously. Tarot is a profound tool for insight, creativity, divination and healing. Don’t forget, though, that tarot is fun. And don’t forget the many ways in which tarot is funny.

Laugh during your readings. Make up funny stories with your cards. Imagine the tarot characters in strange situations, and consider what their reactions might be.

As much as tarot is profound, tarot is also entertaining. When we explore the lighter side of tarot, we find the healing that comes from humor and fun.

What’s Up at the Psychic Café?

There are big changes at Christiana’s Psychic Café! After almost two years, the internet broadcast station that hosted my webcast, PEN, has stopped broadcasting. However, Christiana’s Psychic Café will continue!

For now, new episodes of Christiana’s Psychic Café will be available on the Christiana’s Psychic Café Facebook page at 9 pm Eastern time each Sunday night. They will also be available on my YouTube Channel at the same time.

Over the past two years, Christiana’s Psychic Café has become an opportunity for you to meet some very interesting people, and to learn about a variety of metaphysical topics. Each episode is conversation between friends you’ll be glad you had a chance to hear.

Last week we featured our episode from March 23rd, 2014. This was a great conversation between six metaphysical practitioners about when and how to give services free.

This coming Sunday, November 9th, we will have a brand new episode of the Psychic Café featuring Certified Angel Healing Practitioner, spiritual counselor and psychic reader Kristina Angelgate.

Tune in on Facebook or YouTube to meet Kristina and learn about her healing work with angels!

Christiana’s Psychic Café is my weekly webcast. It debuts on Facebook each Sunday at 9 pm Eastern.

Archived webcasts available on my YouTube channel.

You can also see the archives cataloged on the Tarot Topics News Site.

Learning Tarot: Eight of Swords

In the Eight of Swords, we see a person trapped by swords. In tarot, Swords relate to the element of Air. Air is the element of thought and communication.  In the Eight of Swords, each sword can represent a thought or word that keeps the person trapped.

The Eight of Swords may refer to anxious thinking, the “paralysis of analysis”, specific fears, restrictive belief systems or other self-imposed limitations.

Key words for the Eight of Swords include anxiety, worry, fear, restriction and limitation.

When you see the Eight of Swords in a reading, it may be time to reflect on the thoughts, ideas and beliefs that hold you back. You may need to think about the way you let the words of others affect you.

The Eight of Swords may suggest a feeling of being trapped, with no way out. The reality of the situation may be different from that. When you see the Eight of Swords, recognize that the things you believe about a situation have power. If you want to change your situation, change your beliefs about it.

Next week we will find more opportunities for healing with the suit of Swords as we explore the Nine.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one-card reading this week is the Ten of Wands.

Think about the burdens you carry – your responsibilities as well as your worries.

Which of these no longer serves you, or no longer belongs to you?

Now is a good time to release unnecessary burdens.

It may be that you are pursuing a difficult project, perhaps a creative or business venture. Now is not the time to give up on your projects or your dreams. Even if times are tough, and even if you feel overwhelmed, keep on going. You may not see it now, but success is within your reach.

This week, look at the things in your life that weigh on you. Keep the worthwhile ones, and release the rest.
