Colors

Color is such an important part of our daily lives. Many of the choices we make each day are based on our attraction to colors. Colors affect our moods and influence our feelings.

Colors have metaphysical properties, too. We use colors in healing and manifestation by intentionally choosing the specific colors we need. We might wear a specific color, burn a candle of a specific color, or even eat a food of a specific color.

Each color has particular properties to support healing, or the manifestation of particular energies. For instance, yellow supports confidence, green supports health and wealth, and red supports romance.

The seven chakras (energies centers) along the spine are each associated with one of the colors of the spectrum. We can use colored gemstones, or even the color of our clothing, to help support specific chakras.

Many tarot readers rely on the colors of the cards to give them information and add depth to the reading.

Beyond making our world more beautiful, colors are tools we can use to aid us in healing, divination and manifestation.

The Properties of Color

Here is a list of some generally accepted properties of color. You can add energy to your life simply by choosing the color you want to support and manifest in your life. Find your color in a candle that you burn while focusing on your desires. Find your color in the clothing and gemstones you wear, or the food you eat. Find your color in flowers. Use colored lights to bathe in healing energy.

If you want spiritual healing, unconditional love, or clear communication, choose blue.

If you want health and wealth, choose green.

If you want psychic development and spirit communication, choose purple.

If you want confidence, choose yellow.

If you want romance, choose red or pink.

You can use any color for any purpose, as long as it feels right to you.

The Week in Review

This week, all three of my blog posts have accompanying videos!

On my personal blog, Tarot Trends, you can read and watch my review of the new Japaridze Tarot from U.S. Games.

On my community blog, Tarot Topics, I answered another question about tarot. This question is about the process of advanced tarot reading.

On my Dark Forest blog, I shared a video I happened to capture of two sand hill cranes dancing! These huge red-headed birds are common in Florida, but they are always a joy to watch!

From Around the Web

This week, fellow tarot pro Theresa Reed hit a home run with her blog post, “Question the Authorities”. If you have your own business, or want to have your own business, you must read this!

From News.Mic, here is a great listicle that gives us a peek at what some very successful people were doing in their twenties. This is both fun and inspiring!

If you would like to expand your tarot knowledge, check out Raven’s Tarot Site. You will find some interesting material about tarot and Kabbalah, and tarot and astrology.

Colors in Tarot

There are many methods of tarot reading that rely heavily on interpreting the colors of the cards.

Some tarot decks are black-and-white only; they are to be colored by the tarotist, as part of the process of learning the cards and bonding with the deck.

With so many tarot decks available, we often chose our favorite decks based on our feelings about their colors.

As an exercise, ask a question of the cards. Pull one card as an answer. Rather than interpreting it as you normally would, simply looking at the colors of the card and make an interpretation based on how those colors make you feel.

Does this seem like a valid way to work with the cards for you? Do you consider card color when you do readings in general? Do you prefer a deck with a uniform color, or do you like a deck that uses a variety of color?

You determine the role that color plays in your tarot practice!

Learning Tarot: Ten of Swords

In many decks, the Ten of Swords is the single most disturbing image of the 78 cards. Typically, we see a person impaled by ten swords.

With this card, as with some of the other Swords cards, it is important to remember that often, the things that pierce us and lay us low are thoughts and words, and nothing more substantial than that.

In tarot, the number ten speaks of the end of a cycle, and the beginning of a new cycle. The Ten of Swords can speak of something that needed to end, or the pain of something ending.

The Ten of Swords is often interpreted as an unfavorable outcome, or an unadvisable action.

The Ten of Swords can be an indicator of pain, difficulty and suffering.

The Ten of Swords reminds us not to let unkind words or painful thoughts rule us.

The Ten of Swords might occasionally refer to literal back pain. I have also seen it come up to reference acupuncture.

When you see the Ten of Swords, you can be sure there is some discomfort, or some injury. You must discover the source and nature of the injury, and the possible remedy.

We often prefer not to see dark cards such as the Ten of Swords in a reading. However, the Ten of Swords, and other darker cards, offer us the opportunity to embrace real healing.

Next week we will meet the Page of Swords as we continue our journey through the suit of Air.

I’m Traveling Northeast in March and August!

I had such a wonderful time on my Northeastern Tour last August. The only frustration was I didn’t have time on the calendar to accommodate everyone who wanted to host a psychic house party with me! In 2015 I will remedy this by scheduling two trips. I will be in Connecticut from March 20th to March 29th, and again from August 7th to August 23rd.

Psychic house parties with me will be available in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts during those trips. Please give me a call or send me an email if you would like to reserve your date now.

While I am always available to serve you with phone and Skype readings, the opportunity for in-person readings is limited. If you live in the Northeast, don’t miss your chance to meet with me in person in 2015!

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one-card reading this week is the Ten of Pentacles. This week, pay attention to your home and family.

Now is a great time for cleaning, decorating, organizing, remodeling and repairing your home. It’s also an auspicious time to make a housing change or a real estate deal.

On a deeper level, it’s time to think about your family from a generational perspective. What did you receive from the prior generation? What will you pass on to the next?

Think about this both in terms of the positive family traits you carry and the less-than-positive generational cycles.

Spiritually, this is a good week to connect with your ancestors and departed family members in spirit. Recognize their presence in your life, and their influence upon you.
