We often hear that “play is the work of children.” What we don’t hear often enough is how important play is for adults. When we are young, we learn through play. The same is true when we become older.
Taking time to be playful is also important to our physical and emotional well-being. This time of year offers many opportunities to step outside of our routine and do something silly or fun.
Make sure that, during this busy holiday time, you take time to play!

| The Tarot Fool: Honoring the Inner Child
Numbered card 0, the tarot Fool, is the star of the story told by tarot. As such, the Fool is the card that represents each one of us on our journey through life. The Fool is often pictured at a crossroads, or about to walk off a cliff. Although he does not know what lies ahead, he proceeds forward unconcerned. His attitude is merry and carefree.
Often, when the Fool figures in a reading, he reminds us to be playful, and to honor our inner child. The Fool encourages us to take the leap of faith, even if we are unsure of the outcome.
Recently, someone said something to me that made me think of the Fool. She said that to experience joy, we must be fully present in the moment, rather than worrying about the past or the future.
We when adopt a playful attitude that honors our inner child, we are able to experience joy in the simple moments of our lives.
Often, the Fool is a tarot card that can help us do that.

| The Week in Review This week, on my Dark Forest blog, I wrote An Open Letter to Self-Published Creatives. We reviewers and bloggers are happy to help promote your projects. You just need to ask the right way! On my personal blog, Tarot Trends, I wrote a short, inspirational piece about how we envision the future. | Resources for Tarot Play
There are many games and activities you can enjoy with your tarot cards, even beyond the techniques of divination, meditation, manifestation and personal growth with which you are already familiar.
My book, “Tarot Tour Guide”, offers a number of interesting games and exercises to help you play with your cards.
There are many other great resources to help you think outside the box and have more fun with tarot.
The book, “Tarot Games” has been a go-to of mine for years. Written for the feminist community for use with the Motherpeace Round Tarot, many of these games translate well to groups large or small, with any type of tarot decks.
Here are two interesting books I haven’t read. Each offers unique ideas for tarot fun.
“365 Tarot Activities” could be used in daily tarot study.
“The Tarot Activity Book: A Collection of Creative and Therapeutic Ideas for the Cards” has a wealth of interesting tarot exercises.
“The Tarot Game” is an actual board game played with tarot cards!

 The King of Swords is the highest expression of the Air energy in the Minor Arcana.
The King of Swords can represent an adult man, perhaps born under an Air sign (Geminin, Libra, Aquarius).
The King of Swords can also be a trustworthy man, or a gentleman with honorable intentions.
The King of Swords can also be a good communicator or an authority on ethics, integrity, technology, science or communication, of any gender.
The King of Swords may refer to an institution, such as a bank, a university or a corporation. The King of Swords may indicate be a leader, specifically a leader who speaks in favor of doing the right thing.
The King of Swords may remind you to speak your truth and honor your integrity. The King of Swords may encourage you to step into a leadership role.
The King of Swords may speak of you, or someone else, as an exemplar, that is, an example to the community of the honorable way to be.
This concludes our journey through the suit of Swords, the Air suit. Next week we will begin our journey through the suit of Pentacles.

The Sun is a card of brilliance and happiness, and reminds you to seek joy during this holiday season.
The Sun also commands you to use your skills and abilities for the betterment of the world. Do not let anyone steal your peace, or your power. Do not let anyone, or anything, cast a shadow on your inner light.
