Tarot Topics 2/25/2015: Waiting for Spring

Waiting for Spring

Most of us spend time waiting for lots of things, transportation, appointments, communication and payment. As patient as we try to be, we don’t enjoy waiting, and resent the time we feel has been wasted.

At this time of year, many people are impatient for signs of spring, and are waiting for warmer weather.

Patience really is a virtue, but sometimes waiting serves a purpose other than exercising our patience. Sometimes waiting is a time to rest. Sometimes waiting gives us time to plan and prepare. Sometimes waiting offers us the opportunity to notice something, create something or contemplate something we wouldn’t have given attention otherwise.

As we wait for spring to arrive, we have time to reflect, to plan, and to prepare for an exciting next chapter.

Three Tarot Cards that Teach Patience

Patience is a spiritual lesson in most schools of thought, including tarot. There are many tarot cards that indicate the need for patience, or that remind us to be patience when they appear in a spread. Here are three of them.

The Hermit: “Patience” is a typical key word for this card. It takes patience to make the journey of the Hermit. It takes patience to hold the lamp of wisdom for others.

Nine of Wands: This is a “Nine” card, like the Hermit. The warrior has fought, been wounded, and needs to rest. He waits patiently at his post, neither seeking a battle, nor seeking relief. This is the card of the sentry, of being on-guard or watchful.

Temperance: Many people use the key word “patience”, along with “caution”, to describe Temperance. The angel is involved in the process of alchemy. He is transforming something by blending different parts together. This process requires patience, balance and the right ingredients. Traditionally, Temperance is the card of “time”, and acknowledges that some processes just can’t be rushed.

The next time you see these cards in a reading, think about the ways in which patience is important!

The Week in Review

Did you see the Tree Change Dolls on social media this week? This is a great internet success story, and a great concept, with a small messaging problem. See my thoughts about it on my Dark Forest blog.

On my personal blog, I wrote about a phenomenon that sometimes happens in all divinatory and psychic work. Read, “When the Answer is No Answer”.

February draws to a close this week and with it our February Guest Blogger Contest on my Community Blog. You still have until February 28 to submit your post to be in the running to win your copy of the fabulous Japaridze Tarot. Simply submit your post this week! I will announce the winner next week.

From Around the Web

There are six days left to fund the reprinting of “World Spirit Tarot”. Consider lending a hand to help make a new edition of this classic deck a reality.

This article made me smile, and nod in agreement. If you are a woman of a certain age, you might enjoy it, too. Read “Remembering What our Pain is Good for” on Elephantjournal.com.

Tarot Spread: What are You Waiting For?

Sometimes it is necessary to wait for something to happen. Sometimes we wait minutes, sometimes we wait years.

Other times, fear, uncertainty and doubt keep us waiting when it is truly time to spring in to action.

If you have plans or goals that you are waiting to fulfill, here is a quick tarot spread to help you know when it’s time to get moving.

Card 1: Goal – This card provides information about the ultimate goal or plan. If this card is unfavorable, you might need to revise your goal or plan before continuing.

Card 2: Action – This card will indicate what you need to do right now. If the card indicates waiting, then continue to wait. If the card indicates action, it’s time to move forward. Let this card help you figure out the kind of action you need to take!

Card 3: Impediments – This card will indicate the challenges, both self-imposed and external, that you face as you take action to achieve your goals.

What’s Up on the Psychic Café?

This Sunday, March 1, I will be presenting a brand new episode of Christiana’s Psychic Café. My guest is Tabitha Dial.

Tabitha is a poet, a scholar and a diviner. Her work is included in the prestigious anthology “Tarot in Culture II” by Emily Auger.

We both have the good fortune of being included in the forthcoming publication “Arcana: The Tarot Poetry Anthology”.

Tabitha is also an emerging professional tarot reader. Even more intriguing is that she is also a professional tea leaf reader!

During our lively conversation, Tabitha reads some of her tarot poetry. We each share a poem about the Empress. We share some metaphysical business tips, and Tabitha teaches us some important facts about tea leaf reading.

Beginning Sunday, you can enjoy this new episode on my YouTube channel, and on the Christiana’s Psychic Café Facebook page. Don’t forget to like us on Facebook, and subscribe on YouTube!

Learning Tarot: Eight of Pentacles

The Eight of Pentacles shows a person at work, mastering a repetitive task. Typically, the Eight of Pentacles talks about some kind of work. The type of work it may refer to depends on the reader, the tradition, or the context of the individual reading.

Traditionally, the Eight of Pentacles refers to a trade, or learning a trade.

In this card, some readers see an apprentice, others see a master craftsman.

The Eight of Pentacles can refer to factory work, or a job that is repetitive or boring. This card could just as easily be a creative project that involves producing a number of the same item.

The Eight of Pentacles can advise job-related schooling, or predict a new job with on-the-job training.

While the Eight of Pentacles does not predict wealth, it does suggest employment, career development and a regular paycheck.

Next week we will see the rewards of hard work, and the luxuries wealth affords, with the Nine of Pentacles.

February Guest Bloggers Contest

I’ve been hosting a Community Blog for a few years now. Unbelievably, we’ve had thirteen guest bloggers so far, including notables such as Biddy Tarot, Mary Ellen Collins, Robin Renee and Mary Nale.

With our new website, it’s easy to contribute to the Community Blog. Anyone who wants to submit something is welcome. Your submission needs to be somewhat tarot-related, or at least spiritual. Hate speech isn’t allowed, and you must have the legal right to publish any words or art you submit.

You may use the Community Blog to participate in the Tarot Blog Hop, as Amanda Lee has done. You may use the Community Blog to promote your own website, as long as you add something of value to the Community Blog.

As an incentive to welcome current bloggers to our new format, and to encourage new bloggers, we will have a contest during the month of February.

From now until March First, all guest bloggers on the Community Blog are eligible to win a brand new copy of the fabulous Japaridze Tarot.

How do you win? Simply contribute to the Community Blog as many posts as you like. You’ll notice that our readers can rate each blog post with stars at the bottom of the post. On March First, the blogger with the most stars, wins!

You may share your post, and ask your readers to vote for you!

The winner will be announced in March 4th edition of this Newsletter! Happy Blogging!
