Giving Life to Art

It’s easy to confuse talent with creativity. People will say “Oh, I’m not very creative” when they mean that they can’t knit you a sweater or paint you a picture.

Creativity is a human trait. We are all creative in one way or another. The spark of creative fire burns within us all, motivating us, and inspiring us.

While not every person is an original thinker or a talented musician, every person is creative in some way.

Some people express their creative vision through planning, logistics and organization, for example, rather than through art or music.

No matter what we are planning or creating, it’s always exciting when our project starts to take on a life of its own.

That moment when the story starts to write itself, or the party is planning itself, or the room you are decorating finally comes together, is special.

In that moment, we channel the spiritual energy of creativity. We feel the momentum of inspiration, and our capacity to initiate something new into being.

This week, contemplate your own creativity. Do you consider yourself creative, or do you have to reach a little to figure out how your creativity is expressed?

What projects are you working on right now, and how do you give them life?

Can you remember a time when you felt inspired to create something, or plan something, and it took on a life of its own?

If you would like, grab a tarot or oracle deck and pull some cards in answer to these questions. Or, meditate on these questions, and look for the answers in your heart.

The more we can acknowledge our own creativity and access our creative internal flame, the more we connect with the life force of the Universe. Then, we become co-creators with the Universe, and allow that inspiration to be a driving force in our lives.

Tarot, Projects and Creativity

Tarot is such a great tool for project planning. It’s also a great way to find creative inspiration.

In divination, you can ask broad question such as:

Where does my creative talent lie?

How can I nurture my creativity more?

What sort of project should I start?

You can also ask specific questions about project steps and collaborators. You can design spreads to help you; perhaps making a position for each project step and each collaborator. You can also ask question such as:

What will be the most challenging aspect of the project?

Where will I have to grow and stretch to be successful with this project?

When we think about projects and creativity, there are cards that have specific messages and meaning in that regard. When these cards appear in readings about projects and creativity, we can gain added insight.

For me, some cards that specifically refer to projects and creativity are:

The Magician: Assembling your tools to initiate a project.

Temperance: The card of art, time and alchemy can indicate a project created from a combination of components. This card can also be a specific reference to art.

Aces: All Aces can indicate the inception of a project. Specifically, the Ace of Swords can be a writing project, the Ace of Wands can be inspiration for any creative project.

Two of Wands: This card can reference the planning phase of a project.

Three of Wands: This can indicate that your project will be successful.

Three of Pentacles: This suggests that your completed project will be recognized and respected.

Wands Court: The Wands Court Cards can suggest creativity and creative ventures.

Swords Court: The Swords Court Cards can suggest writing projects and organizational ventures.

When these cards appear in your divination, consider how they may speak to you of creativity. If you want to invoke inspiration, use these cards in meditation and manifestation.

The Week in Review

If you missed our February Global Tarot Circle on Facebook Live, you can watch the video anytime. We discussed Court Cards, and something I am calling the “tarot mulligan”.

I was pleased and honored that Theresa Reed, the Tarot Lady, mentioned me in two of her monthly features.

The Hit List for March has a great message, and promotes my crowdfunding for Fortune Stellar.

Mad Hookups shares a lot of great links, including one from me about what happens in a tarot reading when the final card isn’t what you would expect.

From Around the Web

There’s a new tarot blog in town! Check out “The Tarot You Know” and read a review of one of my favorite classic tarot books.

Venus is in retrograde until April 15th. Elephant Journal shares a post on what this could mean for you.

From Sandra at Firerose Tarot, here are 5 things she wants to tell her younger self about tarot. You might find these helpful as well!

The Fortune Stellar Story

My first book, Fortune Stellar, had its own creative life from the very beginning.

I had no intention of writing about professional tarot, but I was approached by a magazine editor to write such a manual.

She gave me the outline which became the eight lessons, or chapters, of Fortune Stellar.

Shortly after I finished the first draft, she went out of business.

It didn’t take long for me to find a new publisher and editor, and “Fortune Stellar: What Every Professional Tarot Reader Needs to Know” was born.

I was surprised by its popularity. My stories of creating my tarot business resonated for people. The tarot exercises challenged people to use their cards to design their unique business plans.

Just last August, my publisher closed her doors. Rather than ending the life of Fortune Stellar, this offered an opportunity for Fortune Stellar to take on new energy and grow!

Fortune Stellar was published in 2010. A lot has changed in the world of professional tarot in seven years, included the advent of self-publishing and crowd-funding. I’m using both to create the Second Edition of Fortune Stellar.

Until March 18, you have the opportunity to pre-order your copy of the Second Edition of Fortune Stellar, and to help me bring this project into being.

Please check out my funding campaign to learn about the ways you can help, and the great opportunities to receive exciting perks at the same time!

Of course, your other option is to get one of the few remaining copies of Fortune Stellar floating around in the world – the last time I checked it was going for over $300 on Amazon. Talk about taking on a life of its own!  Certainly, this is inspiration to get that Second Edition to print as soon as possible!

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

The One-Card Weekly Reading is back, with a new twist. Each week I will choose a card at random to give you three important helpers for the week – a prediction, advice and an affirmation!

This week, your card is the Two of Swords.

Prediction:

You may find yourself needing to make a specific decision, or needing to be a peacemaker in a situation of conflict.

Advice:

Make your decisions based on your knowledge rather than your emotions. Trust your own instincts over input from others.

Affirmation:

I trust myself to make decisions that create peace and balance in my life, and that bring peace to others.
