A Beltane Tarot Spread

beltane.JPG

May First is Beltane. Beltane is the cross-quarter day between the Vernal Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Beltane is a time to celebrate the spring, and all its fertile promise.

One popular Beltane tradition is the Maypole. This is a dance of fertility. It celebrates the union of male and female, of yin and yang.

Here is a tarot spread in honor of Beltane. Perform it on or near May First to help you take advantage of this fertile time of year and manifest something wonderful in your life.

Card 1: The hole. The hole for the Maypole is traditionally dug by the women. This card is an indication of your receptivity. What is your level of readiness and receptivity for something new?

Card 2: The pole. The Maypole is found and prepared by the men. This card represents the active forces in your life. What energies are around you and ready to help you create something wonderful?

Card 3: The black ribbon. In some traditions, the ribbons around the Maypole are black and white, to honor both male and female. This card represents what you must relinquish in order to achieve your goals this spring.

Card 4. The white ribbon. This card represents the active energies that you must utilize – the things you must actually do – to achieve your goals this spring.

Happy Beltane!
