Welcome to my personal blog.
Here you will find my musings, thoughts and observations, all inspired by my experiences as a full-time professional tarot reader.
Five Things I Learned Last Year as a Tarotist and as a Human
2020 is over. Here are some things it taught me.
One of the things I love about being a tarot professional is that I am always learning. Never will there be a time when I know everything there is to know about tarot, psychism, writing, reading for others, and teaching others. To be a tarot professional is to be an eternal student.
My spiritual belief system is based on the idea that life is all about healing and learning.
Sometimes lessons come from difficulties. This year I have learned a lot, not because I took time to study, but because the strange and difficult year made it necessary for me to learn. Here, in no particular order, are some things I learned from 2020. Some are things I had known earlier, but this past year brought them into a sharper focus. Some of them were brand new realizations. The first two lessons are specific to being a tarot professional, the rest are about being human.
When looking to the future as a psychic, it is hard, or maybe impossible, to predict what one cannot imagine.
I have always known that imagination is a huge aspect of tarot reading. It has to be so, because the imagination is seated in the brow chakra (third eye) along with our psychic vision.
When I looked toward the future from the relative safety of 2019, I didn’t see a global pandemic because I couldn’t imagine such a thing. Yet, I did see a lot of things in the readings of individuals that didn’t make sense until the pandemic hit. That leads me to the second lesson.
We can piece together information about our collective future when looking at trends in individual readings.
When I did new year readings for people at the beginning of 2020, I saw a lot of cancelled trips. I saw people being able to work from home. I saw people’s kids going to school from home. In those moments, many of my clients thought I had lost my mind. “My boss would never allow us to work from home.” There is no way I am going to homeschool my child.” “We’ve been planning this trip for years”.
A few months later, those same clients reached out to thank me for the heads up on the pandemic.
The good news is that reading for many people over the past year gives me great confidence in our collective future. While I have seen the worst effects of the pandemic for some people, I know, in the end, our society will emerge from this. I know this because so many people have bright futures appear in the cards. I see weddings, new homes, new babies, and college graduations, just as I always have.
It is important to be flexible.
This past year, many of us had to pivot quickly; to change plans, formats, income streams, and family routines. The more we could be flexible in our thinking, the happier we were. The more we were inventive in our problem-solving, the more successful we were.
When we resist inevitable change, we stop growing. This is a huge life lesson which every person must learn; 2020 made it obvious.
Online communities and gatherings can be uplifting, nurturing, and fun.
Teaching and community-building is my one of my favorite parts of my work. When the pandemic had me cancel all my classes and in-person gatherings in my new community center, I was sad.
Yet, a quick pivot to Zoom and livestreaming on Facebook and YouTube turned out to be a gift. Moving our first annual tarot conference, StaarCon, to an online format avoided a disappointing cancellation. Even when we return to our regular in-person groups, classes, and meetups, I will continue to host online events, and thoroughly enjoy them.
Our ability to care for ourselves and each other is paramount.
This past year was a lesson in creative self-care for many of us. It also helped us find to ways to help others, take care of our loved ones, and stay connected with friends and family in a time of isolation.
For example, my daughter and I utilized FaceTime and YouTube to do yoga and Zumba together; a practice we plan to continue into the future. Friends from around the world scheduled regular Zoom game nights, move nights, and cocktail hours. Even when we are able to resume our normal social lives, we now have skills that will help us stay close to those we love who are at a distance.
As we begin a new year, we are hopeful for positive change, healing and restored health. Many of us will carry scars from 2020 that could last a lifetime. At the same time, we have been lucky to learn important skills and lessons that will serve us in the years ahead.
May we all be safe, well, and prosperous in 2021!

Predictions for 2014 from Christiana Gaudet
Many psychic readers, tarotists and astrologers make a practice of issuing predictions at each New Year. Some are more fanciful, other more practical. Some readers predict doom and gloom every year. In some ways, they are right every year. Each year on planet Earth holds a certain potential for all sorts of disaster.
While I find it more effective to read for a particular person than a whole planet, it’s always fun to think about the upcoming year and consider the possibilities.
Here are some of the things I see for 2014.
In American politics, I feel the Democratic Party will take back the House of Representative is 2014. However, the Republicans might take the Senate.
Third Party and Independent candidates may have more wins than ever before. Many Republicans will distance themselves from the Tea Party. There will be some effort to create a more centrist and bipartisan approach, which will have some success.
After an embattled start, the Affordable Care Act will be for the most part successful in 2014, although not all the public will view it as such. Nonetheless, Obama’s approval rate may improve over the course of the year. On the other hand, the approval rate for Congress (which is lower than ever before) will not likely improve, and may in fact become worse.
History will likely remember Barack Obama as an immature president; one who lacked the training and experience needed to govern effectively.
The country will watch Colorado and Washington carefully this year to see how the end of marijuana prohibition goes. While getting the industry in place and regulated will be difficult, what happens in 2014 will inspire other states to consider adopting the same laws and taking advantage of a great deal of potential revenue.
Overall, the American economy will improve in 2014, with new business starts and new innovations helping businesses both small and large.
Around the world, China will be involved a human rights scandal that will leave U.S.-Sino relationships in a bit of a diplomatic stand-off for a short period of time.
The Middle East, of course, will continue to be troubled, but I am not predicting any major or unusual problems beyond what we have unfortunately come to expect.
In fashion, although the economy will improve, thrift store chic and vintage wear will be increasingly popular. Big fashion dollars are likely to be spent for elaborate costuming (cosplay), rather than for business attire.
In entertainment, video games will continue to be popular, with indie games taking a larger market share than ever before.
In spiritual communities worldwide there are many theories about what might be happening on the planet. Are we shifting or raising our vibration? Are the End Days near?
I think in terms of the consciousness of our species we are slowing raising our awareness. We may all become more psychic and more aware of the psychic energy around us over the next few decades.
I do believe there will be political shifts and economic shifts are there always are. I do not attach any true spiritual significance to those things for 2014. In 2014 life on the planet is likely to continue. There will be problems and solutions, atrocities and blessings, as there always are.
In 2014 scientific discoveries will begin to happen and be unveiled more quickly, but not all of them will be made on American soil. Communication technology will improve, causing some larger changes in our global society. As international communication and the global economy grow, diplomatic relations are likely to change for the better.
At the same time, there are undeniably some aspects of American culture and society that are changing, for better or worse. This will be a common topic of conversation as we struggle to find our identity as a nation in tumultuous times.
Three Ways Tarot Can Help You Greet the New Year
Tarot is a great tool 365 days a year. As we begin a new calendar year there are some specific ways tarot can enhance your journey.
- Predictions
Everyone loves to make predictions for a new year. There are many ways to use tarot to do this. You might pull just one card, asking "What will be the theme of 2013 for me? You might do a twelve-card spread; one card to give information about each month. You might do an eight-card spread to make a prediction for each turn of the Wheel of the Year. You could also dialogue with the cards by asking specific questions about 2013 and pulling cards to reveal your answers.
Write down your predictions so you can check back and see how accurate they were!
- Resolutions
We all enjoy making resolutions each year, although often we don't keep them. Why not use tarot to assist you in your resolution process? Resolutions are generally of two varieties - what we are going to get rid of or not do anymore and what will we start doing. It's easy to ask the cards "What in my life no longer serves me?" to give you an idea of what you might be ready to let go this year. Then you can ask the cards "What should I focus on doing this year?" and pull a card or two to give you some direction. Finally you can ask the cards "What will help me keep my resolutions this year?" Pull a few cards to see what advice tarot can offer.
- Manifestation
This is a great time for tarot magick. What do you want to see happen in 2013? Look through your deck and select cards that represent the things you want to manifest this year. For instance, if you want to buy a house choose the Ten of Pentacles, the "castle card." If you want a great new job choose the Three of Pentacles. If you want a new love relationship choose the Two of Cups. If you want to get pregnant choose the Empress.
Take the cards you have chosen and meditate with them, focusing on manifesting their energies in your life in 2013.
You might also use this time to think about your relationship with tarot in the coming year. I asked the question "How will I grow in my work with tarot in 2013?" The card I drew at random was Temperance. This is my favorite card! To me it means that I will continue to work with tarot to bring healing to people; to help them find the right balance in their lives. In my tarot career I will continue to balance many projects and will have time for the creative part of my career as well.
Happy 2013 to you all!
