Now!

There are a lot of books that advise us to “live in the now,” such as “Be Here Now,” by Ram Dass and “The Power of Now,” by Eckhart Tolle.

Many spiritual teachings tell us to approach the future with confidence, and release the past.

Rather than regretting yesterday and fearing tomorrow, we need to simply be present in the moment.

It’s important to process our past experiences and learn from them, but then we need to heal, grow and move forward.

It’s also important to work and plan for the future. At the same time, we need to remember the words of John Lennon, “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.”

To live in the moment is to live without regret or fear.

To live in the moment is to deeply appreciate everything that is around us.

To live in the moment is to be conscious of our actions.

To live in the moment is to be present for our loved ones.

To live in the moment is to have the courage to take action now, rather than putting it off until tomorrow.

There is no better time to enjoy being alive than now.

Three Simple Ways to Be in the Moment

We can read books, watch videos and listen to recordings to try to learn how to be present. The most important step is to do it! Here are three basic but important things to do to help you be in the now.

1. Just breathe. Conscious, meditative breathing will help you to ground, center and focus.

2. Turn off your electronics. When you are with friends and family members, disconnect from the electronic world and take the time to really listen to the people you care about.

3. Have faith. You are where you are right now for a reason. Believe in your path and your purpose. Believe that everything in your past happened for a reason, and that your future is secure. Without worries from the past or the future, you are free to take advantage of the present moment.

The Week in Review

This week on my Dark Forest Blog I wrote about my red hibiscus which are finally blooming! Read “More Lessons from the Garden.”

On my Tarot Topics Community Blog I shared some ways in which tarot works with our dreams. Read “Tarot Dreams.”

On my personal blog, Tarot Trends, I discussed things we can learn from the Major Arcana of tarot. Read “Twenty-Two Life Lessons from the Major Arcana.”

On my 78 Magickal Tools blog on PaganSquare, read my post “One-Minute Magick with Tarot.”

From Around the Web

From TinyBuddha, here are “Three Lies to Eliminate to Start Living Up to Your Potential.”

Here’s a great post from Daily Tarot Girl about “Where to Keep your Tarot Decks when you’re not Using Them.”

Have you thought about trying your hand at reading with Lenormand cards? Here is a free, printable Lenormand deck!

A Tarot Reading for Now

We can use tarot to help us stay rooted in the present. Here is an adaptation of the classic “Past, Present, Future” spread.

Past: What do I need to release from the past?

Present: How can I be present at this moment?

Future: What must I do to prepare for the future?

Use this spread to help you release the past and feel confident about the future. Then you will be able to put your focus on being present in the current moment.

What's Up at the Psychic Café?

This past Sunday we had two wonderful guests on the Psychic Café. Our topic was “Emotional Healing.” I wanted to find out about spiritual ways to heal that are medically sound.

My first guest, Mary Canane, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. In addition to traditional psychotherapy, Mary offers healing through games, ceremony, Radical Forgiveness and retreats in nature.

My second guest was Susan Morgan of the Mystic Dream Center. Susan uses a shamanic approach to help individual and groups access the wisdom and healing that is available in dreams.

You can watch the show in archive on the Tarot Topics new site.

This week, March 2nd, we’ll be talking about “Finding your Tarot Voice” with Beth Henry and Tarot Tidal. Beth Henry is making some fabulous YouTube tarot videos. In the second half of the show, Tidal and I will discuss the explosion of tarot YouTube videos, and how we each found our tarot voice.

Learning Tarot: The World

Finally, we have come to the end of our journey through the Major Arcana. We’ll start the Minor Arcana next week, with the Ace of Wands.

Card twenty-one, the World, is the final card of the Major Arcana, and finishes the final seven group of cards which describes our journey to spiritual enlightenment.

Key words for the World include completion, integration and attainment. Generally, when this card appears in a reading it indicates success, or the successful completion of a project.

The World card in a reading may also signify a multitude of options for you – the world is in your hands.

On a more mundane level, the World may suggest world travel, or that you should take a more global view.

The World may instruct you to see the bigger picture.

The World might come up to suggest that you have successfully integrated healing of body, mind and spirit. Now, you have got it all together!  You are free to move forward in whatever way you chose.

The World card may indicate that you are now thinking on a more spiritual level.

In some decks, this card is called “The Universe.”

When Major Arcana twenty-one comes up in a reading, it could be a sign that you are in sync with the Universe, or serving a higher purpose.

With the World card, the Fool has successfully completed his journey through the Major Arcana.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

This week, your one-card reading is the Six of Pentacles.

The Six of Pentacles is a card of sharing resources. It can instruct us to be charitable, or to seek help if we need it.

At the same time, we need to be measured in the ways we share. There are some situations where we have to say “no,” or limit our generosity.

This week, be aware of the way we help each other. Be part of your community, and help out where you can. If you need help, ask for it.

Recognize the importance of sharing, and the importance of keeping good boundaries.

Free Webinar

The Four Elements and the Major Arcana

The four elements of life are Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They each have metaphysical properties as well as physical properties.

The four elements correlate with the four suits of the Minor Arcana of the tarot. They also correlate with individual cards of the Major Arcana.

The term “Major Arcana” means “Greater Secrets.” The twenty-two cards of the Major Arcana contain the most spiritual messages and lessons of the tarot, and tell the story of our journey through life.

When we learn the elemental associations for each of the Major Arcana cards, we have a clear way to understand these important cards.

This 75 minute webinar will help the tarot student more fully understand the four elements. It will provide a deeper way to comprehend each of the Major Arcana cards. The student will be able to more fully interpret the Major Arcana cards, whether reading for yourself or others.
