Tarot Topics 5/6/2015: The Throat Chakra
The Throat Chakra
The throat chakra is the energy center on the body responsible for our ability to communicate. The color of the throat chakra is blue. Many people wear blue stones at their throat to support good communication.
Prior to an important conversation, a business meeting or a psychic reading, it’s important to spend a few minutes breathing and focusing on the throat chakra. This will ensure your ability to speak your truth clearly.
Activities such as singing, chanting and conscious breathing support the throat chakra, and help make sure you are able to find the right words when you need them.
Tarot as a Tool of Communication
Tarot helps us communicate with each other, with Spirit and with our Higher Self.
When you are confused about something someone said, you can go to your tarot deck and ask, “What did she mean by that?” Of course, it is always good to go directly to the individual and ask them, but if you prepare yourself with tarot first, you will likely have a more productive conversation later.
You can also use tarot to communicate with those in Spirit, simply by focusing on a particular person or entity, asking the question, and pulling a few cards.
If you need to have a difficult conversation with someone, you can prepare by asking questions of your tarot deck. You can prepare what you want to say and ask the cards to comment. Through your interpretation of the cards, you will be able to structure your conversation in a way that will be most effective.
Communication between people is difficult. Communication between Spirit and humans is even harder. Tarot can help us understand each other and know what to say and how to say it. Tarot also keeps us in communication with the Spirit world that supports us.
The Week in Review
This week, on May 1st, the Tarot Blog Hop hopped again. This time our topic was “distasteful cards.” See my post, and follow the links to see what twenty other tarot bloggers had to say on the topic.
I’m excited to share a post from Joanne Matthew on our Community Blog. Joanne has a great way of learning and teaching the tarot archetypes. See what happens when the Major Arcana plant a garden!
From Around the Web
You may have heard that two of my tarot poems were selected to appear in an anthology of tarot poetry. You can learn about this project, pre-order your copy of the book, and support the publishing process on the new Indiegogo site.
From Olivia at First Earth Tarot, here is an interesting discussion of the Strength card in the Crowley Harris Thoth Tarot, card 11, Lust.
From Starcana, here is a great discussion of some current astrological influences. Do you wonder why people are acting strangely right now? Read, “Appreciation through Compassion and Care, Venus enters Cancer.”
Throat Chakra Meditation
A quick throat chakra meditation before a difficult conversation, an interview or a public speaking opportunity can make all the difference.
If you are shy about speaking in front of people, or uncomfortable discussing a particular topic, or worried about getting tongue-tied, this is all you need to make sure your communication is heard and understood.
The Ace of Swords, as the “essence of Air”, is a card that can inspire us to clear communication. Take your Ace of Swords out of the deck, and hold it against your throat.
Focus on breathing. Ask the Air element to bring you clear speech, and a clear connection between your brain and your mouth. Ask that Air support you in choosing the best words.
You will feel a sense of calm, even if you are nervous. Once you feel that calming energy, you are ready to speak brilliantly!
What’s up on the Psychic Café?
Do you subscribe to my YouTube channel? It’s a great free resource for tarot instruction, deck reviews and interviews with some very interesting people.
This week, I’m featuring an episode of Christiana’s Psychic Café from a year ago. Our focus is the importance of in-real-life tarot gatherings. Join Mary Ellen Collins, Diane Wilkes and me as we discuss the ways we build our tarot community.
Learning Lenormand
Card 1: The Rider
A key word for the Rider is “news”. The Rider brings news and information. The Rider can also indicate meeting a new person, even a new romantic interest.
The Rider can also discuss people in motion – traveling to see friends, or people traveling to see you. The Rider can also discuss transportation.
The Rider tells you that news you are waiting for is coming soon.
Generally, Lenormand cards are categorized as positive, negative or neutral. This influences each card’s effect on surrounding cards, as well as the tone of the overall message the querent receives.
The Rider is considered a positive card. Energies that surround this card include activity, athleticism and motion. The Rider is quick and energetic.
Each Lenormand card is associated with a playing card. Some readers consider the playing card meaning when conducting a Lenormand reading. The Rider is associated with the Nine of Hearts. This brings an energy of success, satisfaction and wishes fulfilled, much like the Nine of Cups in tarot.
Lenormand cards are read in combination with each other, generally at least in groups of two or three. To see possible ways the Rider might combine with other cards, check out the Learn Lenormand website!
Another great online resource for your Lenormand study is Café Lenormand.
Next week, we will discuss Card 2 of the Petit Lenormand, Clover.
Your One-Card Weekly Reading
Your one card reading this week is the Ace of Cups. This is the card of new love, unconditional love, and the open heart.
This week, remember that love is all around you. As you pay attention to the throat chakra, pay attention to the heart chakra as well, and speak your heart to those you care about.
Love is infinite. Love heals. Love makes room for miracles.
This week, let love be your guide.

The Four Elements and the Major Arcana
Free WebEx Webinar Available Exclusively On Line

The four elements of life are Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They each have metaphysical properties as well as physical properties.
The four elements correlate with the four suits of the Minor Arcana of the tarot. They also correlate with individual cards of the Major Arcana.
The term “Major Arcana” means “Greater Secrets.” The twenty-two cards of the Major Arcana contain the most spiritual messages and lessons of the tarot, and tell the story of our journey through life.
When we learn the elemental associations for each of the Major Arcana cards, we have a clear way to understand these important cards.
This 75-minute webinar will help the tarot student more fully understand the four elements. It will provide a deeper way to comprehend each of the Major Arcana cards. The student will be able to more fully interpret the Major Arcana cards, whether reading for yourself or others.
