New Opportunities

New Opportunities

So often in tarot readings, the concept of “new opportunities” shows up in the cards. It might be a new opportunity for romance, friendship, travel or career. Sometimes people are aware of the opportunities, or are open to the idea that wonderful new things can present themselves at any time.

Some people have a hard time believing that new, unexpected, positive things can happen at any time. They don’t believe they will meet someone new because they haven’t met anyone new in a long time. They don’t believe they can make more money, because they don’t see any new opportunities around them.

It’s important to remember that new opportunities, new friends and new ideas can show up at any time, whether you expect them or not. The more we are open to the possibility of new opportunities, the more opportunities we find.

Cut it Out!

Mercury is in retrograde until June 11. While many people find Mercury retrograde challenging, the energy of this heavenly event does offer us some particular opportunities.

The energy of Mercury retrograde supports us in the process of editing, decluttering and refining. Now is a wonderful time to clean a closet, rework a writing project or break a bad habit.

Is there something in your life that no longer serves you? Now is the time to make a break.

This week, consider cutting out of your life any thought, behavior, object or attachment that hurts you or holds you back from your new opportunities.

Five Tarot Cards for New Opportunities

That the concept of new opportunities is communicated in so many tarot cards is a reflection of how easy it is to manifest something new. Opportunity is always available to us if we are willing to be open to it.

Here are a few of the tarot cards that can speak to new opportunities.

The Aces – All four Aces can discuss something new, a new possiblity or opportunity. The nature of the opportunity is related to the suit. For instance, the Ace of Cups may present an opportunity for love, while the Ace of Pentacles may present a career or financial opportunity. The Ace of Wands may suggest the opportunity for a creative project, and the Ace of Swords may suggest the opportunity to learn something new, or to communicate an important truth.

The Magician – The Magician, as Card One of the Major Arcana, is like an Ace. The Magician is the card of “initiation,” so it suggests a new path, new learning, or new opportunities. The Magician tells us that we have all the tools, skills and abilities we need to meet our new opportunity head-on.

The next time you see these cards in a tarot spread, consider what new opportunities may await.  When you want to create new opportunities, use these cards to manifest your desires!

Card Three: Ship

The Ship is considered a neutral card. Whether it’s meaning is positive or negative will depend on the context of the question and the cards that surround it.

The Ship can speak of travel, transportation, immigration and international commerce. Often, the travel is long-distance, or international.

In the context of romance, the Ship could indicate a long-distance relationship, a geographic separation between lovers, or waiting for someone to arrive.

The playing card association for Ship is the Ten of Spades. This may explain some of the more negative associations for the Ship.

The Ship can indicate theft, fear and loss, and well as new opportunities and travel.

Next week we will explore Card Four, House.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

This week, your one-card reading is Justice. Often, Justice appears to tell us to do the right thing, even if the right thing is hard to do.

Justice reminds us that, while we can’t expect life to be fair, we have to make an effort to treat each other fairly. We have to trust that things will be right in the end. It is not our job to dispense justice, nor worry about revenge.

This week, focus on the task of living a balanced life.

The Four Elements and the Major Arcana
Free WebEx Webinar Available Exclusively On Line
Thursday, May 21, 7 pm

The four elements of life are Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They each have metaphysical properties as well as physical properties.

The four elements correlate with the four suits of the Minor Arcana of the tarot. They also correlate with individual cards of the Major Arcana.

The term “Major Arcana” means “Greater Secrets.” The twenty-two cards of the Major Arcana contain the most spiritual messages and lessons of the tarot, and tell the story of our journey through life.

When we learn the elemental associations for each of the Major Arcana cards, we have a clear way to understand these important cards.

This 75-minute webinar will help the tarot student more fully understand the four elements. It will provide a deeper way to comprehend each of the Major Arcana cards. The student will be able to more fully interpret the Major Arcana cards, whether reading for yourself or others.
