The Healer's Heart
Do you have the heart of a healer? If you are creative, sensitive, compassionate and empathetic, you probably do.
If you are a mystic, medical professional, teacher or artist, you probably do.
The healer’s heart hurts whenever it perceives the pain of others, which is often.
The healer’s heart hurts when it contemplates world events.
The healer’s heart can become angry and frustrated when people refuse their own healing.
Many times, having a healer’s heart allows us to be compassionate and helpful in difficult situations. Sometimes, though, that heart causes us pain and distraction.
If you believe you have a healer’s heart, acknowledge it, and appreciate it. But also, take this as a sign that you must be gentle with yourself, and patient with others.
Be willing to turn off the news when it hurts too much to watch.
Understand that people, and nations, can only be ready to heal when they are ready to acknowledge their wounds.
As much as you want to help others, sometimes the focus needs to be your own healing, because the healer’s heart is almost always a wounded heart as well.
Sometimes, compassion hurts.
When we hurt for another, we can hold space for their healing, we can raise energy for their healing, and we can support them in practical ways as well.
Sometimes people won’t let us help them, or won’t participate in their own healing. When this happens, it is important not to feel guilt, or place blame.
Sometimes, the only answer is to practice compassionate detachment.
Heart-Healing Tarot Spread
You can use this six-card spread for yourself, or for someone else.
Arrange cards one, two and three in an inverted triangle shape, with card one being the bottom point, card two being the upper left, and card three being the upper right.
You can see this makes an approximate heart shape.
Arrange the final three cards in a row, under the heart, laying them left to right.
Card one: At the bottom of your heart, this card will reflect your overall current ability to be strong and compassionate with yourself and others.
Card two: at the left side of your heart, this card will reflect things that have influenced your heart in the past.
Card three: at the right side of your heart, this card will reflect what you need to do to heal your heart and make it whole.
The bottom three cards offer support to your healing process. Look at them, individually and as a group, and consider what thoughts, people, activities and experiences will support the healing of your heart.

Three Ways to Heal the Heart with Tarot
Tarot can be used for healing in many ways. Here are three simple things you can do to heal the heart with tarot.
1. In any tarot reading, make an effort to look for the emotions that are present. When you see hurt, look to that card, and the surrounding cards, for clues about how to heal.
2. Meditate with the difficult cards. Picture yourself removing the swords from the Three of Swords, or picking a cup from the Four of Cups.
3. Do a one-card reading by asking this question and pulling a card. What can I do today to support my heart?

Your One-Card Weekly Reading
The Tower
Fasten your seat belt, because your one-card reading this week is the Tower!
Often associated with destruction and disaster, the Tower is a specific healing reference as well.
Sometimes the destruction we see in this card is the destruction of something that is hurting us or blocking us.
The process is painful, but the ultimate result can be healing and growth.
Sometimes, the lightning that strikes down the Tower is enlightening.
This week, don’t be afraid of the pain that comes with healing.
Be ready to determine what no longer serves you, and release it.
For more thoughts about the Tower, read my poem from my 78 Poems Tarot Poetry Project.
