Priorities!
Setting your priorities isn’t always easy. This week, Tarot Topics helps you figure out what is most important to you!
Happy July! This is one of the busiest months of the year for many families. It’s important for us to remember what’s important, and set the right priorities.
It’s true on a larger scale, too. Spiritually, financially, professionally, creatively and emotionally, we all need to know what is really important to us, and what isn’t.
What complicates matters is that there are so many voices telling us what we should do, and what we should make a priority.
When we are able to discern our true priorities, we are able to live a more authentic, happy life.
Releasing Judgement
Judgement is one of the reasons it can be difficult to find your priorities. We feel the judgement of others, or of the critical voices in our own minds, when we set a priority that is different than what is expected.
While “Judgement” is a card in the Major Arcana of tarot, most of us don’t interpret this card in the context of the hurtful judgement that people pass against one another. Typically, Judgement is about closure, a job well done, endings and new beginnings, or a “wake-up call”.
The kind of hurtful judging we do, of ourselves and each other, keeps us from finding our bliss.
When you are ready to set a priority that other people may not understand, make a list of all the possible objections.
Go through that list. Logically, one by one, examine whether any objection has any validity.
If you are solid in your priorities, other people will learn not to question them. The more you are able to release judgement, the more you will be able to pursue your priorities in peace.
The Week in Review
This week, I reviewed a very interesting oracle deck. The Inner Wizard message cards use astrology and affirmations in a unique divination tool. You can read my review, and watch the video to see the cards in action!
At a recent meeting of the Tampa Bay Area Tarot Meetup, a few of us discussed an important question. I shared the results of this conversation on our Community Blog. Read “Three Tips for Tarot Pros: What to do When You’re Just not Feeling It”.
From Around the Web
Steven Bright, of Tiferet Tarot, has shared a great post called “Get the Balance Right”. I am really happy to share great new tarot voices with you, and Steven is one of the best.
In keeping with this week’s theme, from Tiny Buddha, here are “Five Steps to set Your Priorities Straight”.
This past week, the international tarot community unexpectedly lost one of its most unique voices. Nadine Roberts was a well-respected member of Tarosophy Tarot Association, and a presenter at TarotCon.
While I never met her in person, I often shared her blog posts here, and enjoyed conversations with her on Facebook.
While many tarot readers dress in flowing skirts, Nadine wore a tee shirt that said “Ask me for a Tarot Reading!”
Nadine was also a crystal ball reader. Her crystals had names. Just a few weeks ago, Nadine posted a picture of herself holding a crystal ball she had named “Priscilla.”
Nadine left a wonderful on-line legacy. Check out her YouTube channel, and her blog. When you do, send some loving thoughts to her family and friends.
Pleasures and Poisons Tarot Spread
My Aunt used to say that “One man’s pleasure is another man’s poison.” Not everyone has the same desires, or the same priorities. Here’s a two-card tarot spread to help you choose your priority, and release something that doesn’t serve you.
Shuffle your deck and pull two cards. The first card will help you discover something that will make you happy. That is, a pleasure, or something that should be a priority in your life.
The second card will refer to something that is in your life, that doesn’t serve you. This is your “poison”. Interpret this card to help you discover something you need to release, to help make room for your priorities.
What’s Up at the Psychic Café?
This week, I am featuring my interview with James Ricklef, tarotist and author. I spoke with James in November of 2013.
James has been a reader, and a strong voice of tarot wisdom, for many years. He’s the author of the book “The Soul’s Journey”.
Watch the interview to gain a deeper perspective into tarot reading, and how tarot works for us.

Card 9: Bouquet
Bouquet is a very positive card. This card speaks of joyful moments, gifts, surprises and things that make us feel good.
The pleasures described by this card can be small and immediate. Flowers don’t last forever, but they are beautiful to behold.
The playing card association for Bouquet is the Queen of Spades. This card can refer to a woman, particularly a dark-haired woman, or one who is in charge of a situation.
Next week, we will explore Card 10, Scythe.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading
Your One-Card reading this week is the Three of Cups.
Appropriate for our weekend celebrations, the Three of Cups is about social gatherings, parties, fun and friendship.
Sometimes having fun simply has to be the priority. The Three of Cups tells you to do the things you enjoy, and to do those things with the people you enjoy.
Now is a good time to build community, host a party, or reach out to an old friend.
