Is the Universe Conspiring on Your Behalf?
A new word I learned this week is the topic for this week’s newsletter. Is the Universe conspiring to help you? “Pronoia” suggests it is!
I learned a new word this week from a friend on social media. When I researched the word, I discovered the modern use of this word was coined by John Perry Barlow, a writer I admire a great deal. Synchronicities like that make me pay attention, so I wanted to share this special word with you.
The word is “pronoia”. It’s the opposite of “paranoia”. Pronoia is the suspicion that the Universe is conspiring on your behalf. Pronoia is the belief that most people really want to help you, and you, them.
What would happen if we approached life believing that most of the energy around us intended us well and wanted to help us?
It certainly wouldn’t be good to trust everyone and everything. However, beyond taking reasonable precautions for safety, could we believe it possible that the Universe, and the people in it, really wants to help?
I do believe that everything that happens, even the most terrible things, are somehow designed for our growth, healing and happiness. When we simply trust this to be true, even when times are hard, we do eventually find the growth, healing, peace, harmony, success and happiness we desire and need.
What Does the Universe Want me to Know?
Most of us have an oracle deck, a tarot deck, or some other divinatory device. Whether we have a serious divination practice or just play with the oracle for fun doesn’t matter. We all benefit from the opportunity to calm, center, focus and check in with the Universe.
Sometimes we want to check in, but don’t really know what question to ask. My favorite question is always appropriate, and will always give you some interesting information.
Simply ask, what does the Universe want me to know?
When you interpret the card you receive, do it with pronoia in mind!

The Week in Review
This week I designed a new tarot spread and shared it on the Community Blog. Check out my “Middle Path of Perception Tarot Spread for an Attitudinal Sweet Spot.” If you need an attitude adjustment, this might help!
My Community Blog includes my “Answers to Your Questions about Tarot” series. One of the all-time favorite posts answers a very popular question about choosing a beginning tarot deck. If you haven’t seen this before, check it out, and share it with your friends who are just beginning their tarot journey!
The Week in Review
Have you ever received news in a tarot reading that you didn’t want to hear? Here are some wise words from The Tarot Lady, Theresa Reed, about why that reading is a blessing!
From Little Red Tarot, here is a wonderful original tarot spread, “Begin now, with what you have”.
From Psychology Today, here are “Ten Steps Out When Stuck in Doubt”.
Three Cards that encourage us to Trust the Universe
Sometimes the message from a tarot reading is simply that we need to trust the Universe. Often, this is not what we want to hear, although it may be what we need to hear.
There are specific cards that can remind us the Universe is working on our behalf. Here are three of them.
When we think about the meanings and lessons of these cards, we may find some comfort, even if the Universe is not unfolding the way we would prefer at the moment.
The Wheel of Fortune can often encourage us to trust in our luck, our fate, or our karma. Isn’t this the same as trusting the Universe? The Wheel, of course, reminds us that everything changes, and everything moves in cycles.
Justice reminds us that, even though things may not be fair in the microcosm, everything will balance in the macrocosm.
The Moon reminds us that there is much we can’t fully perceive, yet we must trust our intuition to know that spiritual truth exists.
In these three cards we see cycles, balance and intuition. These are three constants in the Universe in which we can place our trust.
What's up at the Psychic Cafe?
Did you know I have a YouTube channel that is chock full of great information for you? On my YouTube channel you will find my “Answers to your Questions about Tarot” videos, where people send me questions about tarot decks, traditions and techniques, and I make a video to answer them.
Also on my YouTube channel are episodes of my webcast, Christiana’s Psychic Café. This started as a weekly livestream through the Para Encounters Network. When PEN stopped broadcasting, I continued to interview some of today’s most interesting artists, writers, musicians, healers, tarotists and psychics, and share those interviews directly on YouTube.
You will also find some of my reviews of tarot decks, oracle decks and books, and some other fun things, like original tarot spreads.
If you’ve never visited my YouTube channel, or haven’t been there in a while, please do visit, and don’t forget to subscribe!

Card 16: Stars
Stars can refer to fame, recognition, promotion and acknowledgement, like ‘being a star”. Stars can also refer to a sense of fate or destiny, like the things that are “in the stars”.
In love, Stars is about the attraction between people. This can include crushes and infatuation.
Stars is considered a positive card. The playing card association is Six of Cups. This can indicate a karmic relationship, a brother or male friend, or a love affair.
Next week we will see what change the Stork, card 17, is bringing!
Looking Forward to Florida TarotCon
Many of the presentation titles (though by far not all) are now on the TarotCon website! What will your favorite tarotists be presenting? Find out, and make your reservations now!

Do You Want to Play?
This week’s Tarot Topics is about being playful! Have fun this summer with tarot, and honor your inner child.
They say that play is the work of children. From play, children learn and grow. When we become adults, we forget about the importance of play.
When we play as adults, we stretch our bodies, our minds and our spirits. Whether our play is creative, athletic, social or just entertaining, play time is more than simply taking time off from work.
The word “recreation” means re-creation. When we play, we re-create ourselves. When we play together, we create our communities.
How do you play? With whom do you play? How does being playful strengthen you?
How Tarot Tells us to Have More Fun
There are many tarot cards that may express the need to lighten up, play more, and honor the inner child.
Of course, all four Pages could be invitations to experience their element from the open and playful perspective of a child.
The Knight of Wands suggests that you be willing to be silly, and to pursue fun.
The Fool invites you to be playful and bold, and to honor the inner child.
The Sun speaks to you of the vigor and fearlessness of youth.
The Six of Cups can invite you to play as a child, or to revisit the things you enjoyed in youth.
The Seven of Cups could remind you to be imaginative.
The Five and Six of Wands could talk about group play, and athletic competition.
The next time you see these cards in a reading, consider what message they may have about fun, playfulness and your inner child.
The Week in Review
This week, I participated in the Tarot Blog Hop. Our topic was Mercury, the Sun and Tarot. As you can imagine, we all took that topic in different directions! Read my post, and follow the links to see what the other bloggers did with it.
On my 78 Magickal Tools blog on PaganSquare, I share a piece about a group tarot healing ceremony.
From Around the Web
Jenna Matlin, who will be a speaker at Florida TarotCon, is an animal-lover. She has shared this great post about the Strength card in tarot, and the interaction between the human and the animal.
Gina Thies will also be a speaker at Florida TarotCon. You can listen to her podcast, Oracle Soup.
Another speaker at Florida TarotCon will be Corrine Kenner. From her, enjoy a slideshow of art from Pamela “Pixie” Colman Smith, the artist of the Waite-Smith Tarot.
Playing with the Cards
Tarot is a serious tool for personal growth, which began 500 years ago as a simple game. Sometimes, in our modern tarot work, we find that our understanding of the cards increases when we approach them with a playful spirit.
There are many ways to play with tarot, alone and with friends. Here are two playful exercises to try, but the playful things you can do with tarot are limited only by your imagination.
Story-telling. Pull four cards at random. Use the cards, in the order that you pulled them, to make up a fanciful story. You can work solely with the pictures, or include your interpretations to make your story.
Act it out. Pull a card, and create a physical action that, to you, represents the card. In this way, you can embody the tarot by dancing. If you are playing with other people, you can turn this into a game of “tarot charades”.
What’s up on the Psychic Café?
This week, I am featuring one of my most popular episodes ever, my interview with Brigit Esselmont of Biddy Tarot. Brigit has built a great website, and a world-wide tarot business, in a very short period of time. Watch the video, and see how she did it!

Card 15: Bear
Card 15, Bear is considered a neutral card. The Bear can describe a mother, a protector, or a down-to-earth, practical person. The Bear can also describe a person who is overbearing, aggressive or a bully.
The playing card association for Bear is the Ten of Clubs. This suggests progress, especially where career is concerned, moving forward despite difficulty, signing a contract, or travel.
Next week, we will explore Card 16, Stars.

Your one-card reading this week is the Two of Swords.
What choices are you pondering this week? What options are in front of you?
This week, spend some quality time thinking about your options, ideas and decisions.
Now, here’s the twist. As you think about your choices and possibilities, allow yourself no worry, and no anxiety.
Don’t worry about not knowing what you want, or what to choose.
Don’t worry about making a mistake.
Practice simply weighing ideas against each other, from a serene and peaceful perspective.
Your correct path will appear when the time is right. This mental process will help you know your path when it emerges.

Announcement!
In this week’s newsletter, I make two very important announcements. Find local tarot readings and events with me in the Tampa area, and visit the Palm Beaches for TarotCon in October!
This week, I have two very important announcements to share with you in this newsletter.
First, let’s spend a moment thinking about the energy of announcements, and sharing good news.
Whether through reading sacred texts or through meditation, divination or spiritual mediumship, we are always seeking the good news of spiritual wisdom, and the inspiration of angelic proclamation.
Often, when we announce our intentions, our goals and our successes to our loved ones, the power of our words helps to solidify our success.
Now Open in Lutz!
I am now seeing clients in my new office in the North Fork Professional Center, right across from Walmart, at 1537 North Dale Mabry Highway, #102 in Lutz.

The Week in Review
This week on my Dark Forest blog, I wrote about a recent trend I’m noticing. Why is everyone so sensitive right now? Read my post and see!
On the Community Blog, I shared some thoughts and discussion topics about tarot spreads from a recent meeting of the Tampa Bay Area Tarot Meetup.
From Around the Web
My friend and student, Steven Bright, of Tiferet Tarot, shared a wonderful post about sacred space.
Another friend, Jenna Matlin, who will be speaking at Florida TarotCon, wrote a piece that got picked up by Medium.com. Congrats, Jenna! Read “I am a Professional Tarot Reader (And not a Con Artist)”.
If you write about tarot, or like to read about tarot, you might be interested in this new magazine about tarot, Lenormand and oracles, “The Cartomancer”.
Cards of News and Announcement
Virtually every divination method will have a very specific way to predict the arrival of news.
In the Lenormand deck, the very first card, Card One, the Rider, is the bringer of news.
In tarot, the four Pages are the heralds of news; the nature of the news is determined by the suit.
Card 20 of the Major Arcana, Judgement, can also be a sign of news, often specifically from a spiritual source.
When you see these cards in a reading, be on the lookout for new information, or new communication from Spirit!
What’s Up at the Psychic Café?
This weekend I will feature a new episode of Christiana’s Psychic Café to my YouTube channel. The episode will feature a fascinating conversation with Hal Weeks, the artist of Wickwillow Tarot.
You will be amazed by these images, and by the detailed spiritual process Hal worked with to create each card.
Make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel while you are there!
Tree, from Gilded Reverie Lenormand, by Ciro Marchetti.
Learning Lenormand
Card 5: Tree
The Tree is all about your health, your growth and your life. The Tree is a neutral card; its meaning can be positive or negative depending on the surrounding cards. While there is a very practical aspect to this card in its relationship to the physical body and physical health, there is also a spiritual, or karmic, aspect to this card.
This card can suggest a period of growth and development in any aspect of life.
The Tree may concern itself with your sense of well-being in a spiritual, physical or mental way.
The playing card association for the Tree is Seven of Hearts. This suggests happiness and satisfaction in many areas of life.
Next week we will explore Card 6, Clouds.
