What Feeds You?
At Thanksgiving we give thanks for what feeds our bodies. It is also a time to discover what feeds us at a soul level.
In the United States, tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. Traditionally, this is a time for friends and family to enjoy a meal together and contemplate their gratitude for food, shelter, and one another.
Thanksgiving is also considered the beginning of what I like to call the ‘Winter Festival Season’. Whatever you celebrate, and whatever your feelings about this time of year, I wish you the happiest, merriest, and most blessed holiday season. I want to you to know one of the things I am most grateful for is you. That is, those of you who read my newsletters, join me on YouTube, have sessions with me, attend StaarCon, read my books, and support my work in whichever ways make sense to you. Without you, I could not do the work I love so much.
When I think about Thanksgiving, I think first about the traditional foods, and our enjoyment of them. Yet, since Thanksgiving is about so much more than food, my contemplation turns to the things that feed us mentally, creatively, and spiritually.
I am grateful that the work I do feeds me so well. Tarot stimulates my creativity, my spirituality, my intellect, and my social needs. I know that not everyone is lucky enough to have a career that engages them on so many levels.
Our jobs do not have to be what feeds the soul as long as they put food on the table. We may have hobbies, fellowships, studies, or other pursuits that feed us more deeply.
One thing I notice at the tarot table is that some people have yet to figure out what feeds them beyond their physical needs. They do not know what sings to their soul or warms their heart.
On this Thanksgiving, give thanks for what feeds your mind and your spirit. If you don’t know what that is, commit to that search. The journey will be as delightful as the discovery.

Finding What Feeds Your Soul
Tarot can be a great tool to help you discover your passions, your talents, and the things that make you happy. You can ask questions of tarot or have a professional reading on this topic.
Here are some questions to your cards, or to ask a reader.
What would make me happy at this moment?
What is a talent I have yet to discover?
What is something I enjoyed as a child that I need to revisit?
How can I find a sense of spiritual joy?
How can I make new friends?
How can I explore my creativity?

Guidance on the Journey
There are so many cards that invite and instruct us to find our passions, consider our desires, and engage our creative energy.
The Nine of Cups is the traditional ‘Wish Card’. This card can ask you what your wishes are and can remind you that your desires are important.
Many readers also see the Star as a card of wishes and wishes fulfilled.
The Two of Wands and the Seven of Cups can both be viewed as cards that ask us what we want to manifest in our lives.
The Ace of Wands seeks to ignite our passions and encourages us to start new projects.
There are also cards that point out that we have not found what we are seeking. For example, the Four of Cups may suggest that we seek out something more engaging, and more exciting, than what we have so far discovered. The Eight of Cups suggests that it may be time to walk away from the past, and journey toward something new.
Judgement, of course, suggests closure to the past, and being open to a reawakening.
The theme of discovery, and the search for soul satisfaction, is inherent in the stories told by tarot, and in the messages of many cards. Perhaps this is because we are all driven to find the things that feed the soul.

When You Feel Lost
There are so many reason we can feel lost. Tarot can help us understand what we are feeling specifically. Then, tarot can help us find solutions.
“I feel lost” is something people say at the tarot table quite often. A good tarot reading is a great remedy for that unsettling feeling.
When someone says they feel lost I like to probe a bit, with questions and with the cards, to figure out what is going on.
Clearly, the word ‘lost’ is a figurative term for something else. They are not lost in any literal sense.
It is sometimes true that when people say they feel lost what they are feeling is depression, either clinical or situational. Other times, that lost feeling comes from being unsure about what step to take next in life. The feeling may relate to career or relationships. Perhaps we feel spiritually lost, unsure about what we believe, or where to put our faith. We might feel lost in the search for self-understanding. We might feel lost in reaction to a trauma or personal loss.
When someone we care about expresses that feeling of being lost, it is important to help them define what they are truly feeling. Then, they can find a path toward healing and direction.
When we are feeling lost, we need to take the step to first understand the source of that feeling. That is where tarot and other forms of divination can be so helpful.
Sometimes the way forward may include therapy, or other sources of healing work. Sometimes the way forward may include the courage to make a significant change.
There are times we need to feel adrift for a while before we can find a new direction. In that untethered space we can often find creativity and spiritual understanding while we wait for a course correction.

Mapping The Spiritual Path with Tarot
Very often, when we feel lost, it is because we need new grounding and new focus on a spiritual level. My book, Tarot Tour Guide, includes an original twelve-card spread for mapping the spiritual path.
Positions in this spread ask questions such as “What did I come here to learn?” and “How do those lessons manifest in my life”? The spread goes on to ask questions that give action steps for the way forward.
When you are feeling spiritually lost, this tarot spread, or a spread like it, can be very helpful.
You can create a tarot spread to help you find meaning in your life, and to help you find your spiritual grounding.
When you take the time to work with a larger tarot spread, your divination becomes a time of contemplation, meditation, and communication with spirit.

Guidance on the Journey
Are there specific tarot cards that might express a feeling of being lost in life? I can think of a message about what to do when you feel lost in life for any of the seventy-eight cards. But which cards describe that lost feeling?
I think because the feeling of being lost is so amorphous, and the causes of that feeling can be so varied, it is hard to find a single card that embodies this fully.
The Moon can suggest confusion. The Five of Pentacles can speak of feeling impoverished and without opportunity. The Four of Cups can describe not being happy with any of your options.
When you are feeling lost, a great exercise can be to go through your cards, face up, and pull out of the deck each image that seems to describe how you are feeling. Go through the cards you have selected and look at each one. In that process, hold space for your feelings, and take time to understand exactly what you are experiencing.
Then, from the cards that remain in the deck pull a few at random to give you advice for healing and direction.

Waiter! There is a Problem with My Order!
Life doesn't always serve us what we want, but it always serves us.
We spiritual folk often reference the Law of Attraction and the power of prayer as a way that we can speak what we want into being. There is real truth in the idea that we can state our needs and desires and become co-creators with the Universe in achieving them.
Some people even call it ‘putting in an order with the Universe.’ Yet, the Universe isn’t Santa, or a genie, or even Amazon Prime. My mother used to say that God answers all prayers, but sometimes the answer is ‘no’.
When we clearly visualize, ask for, and work for our goals, they become easier to attain. There is no doubting this spiritual truth. Sometimes, though, it can feel that we are at the restaurant of life, and all our friends have gotten their orders, and our plate is still empty. Other times it feels that we ordered a fine French meal and ended up with a greasy burger.
Why is that that we sometimes feel that what we received is not what we ordered, or that everyone else has received something that we have yet to attain?
No matter how positive and prayerful we are, sometimes things don’t go the way we want.
Some people are quick to think that they are being punished by Higher Power or paying off some karmic debt from an evil prior life. I think the likely truth is far less nefarious.
Creative visualization, prayer and the Law of Attraction help us to create possibilities and achieve goals. Yet, there are other powers at play. Sometimes we just need to be patient. Our order will come in the right time, not in the time we specify. Sometimes the Universe seems to have a different lesson for us, or another way for us to serve a greater purpose.
Prayer, visualization and the Law of Attraction are only pieces of the energy that creates our lives.
There is no way to get the kitchen in the restaurant of life to bring us our order more quickly. If we don’t like what we get, we can’t send it back and order something else.
Life requires us to be patience, proactive and prayerful, all at the same time.
We must be patient to wait for the opportunities we are working to manifest.
We must be patient with the things in life that are beyond our control.
We must be proactive in doing the best we can with what we have.
We must be proactive in working to create what we want, even if we have been disappointed in the past.
We must be prayerful, even when are prayers are not fully answered.
And, even when our prayers are not answered, we must look to find the gifts in whatever the Universe has brought to our table. In time, we can always discover those gifts if we are willing to see them.

Tarot for the Lemons of Life
We all know the expression ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’. Tarot is a great tool to help us figure out how to do that.
Tarot can also warn us when things might not go with way we had hoped.
The way to deal with an unfortunate prediction is the same as the way to deal with an unfortunate situation. We simply ask questions to help us prepare, learn, process and mitigate.
What sort of questions help us handle disappointment and difficulty? Here are some ideas.
What can I learn from this?
How do I prepare for this?
What gift will come out of this?
How can I help others get through this?
What can I do to heal from this?
What can I do to make this better?

Cards for Your Consideration
The Four of Cups is the perfect card to describe that feeling of having to make do with something which is different from what you wanted or expected.
Very often in a reading this card can speak of limited options, ambivalence, or boredom.
We can also see an attitude reflected in this card. It may be that the options being offered are adequate, and the character in the card is behaving like a spoiled child, wishing for strawberry ice cream when all that is available is vanilla.
When this card appears, it may suggest taking advantage of the best option possible. It may suggest that it is time to wait for something better. It may also tell you to check your attitude.
This card can serve as a reminder that we need to stay positive in order to make the best of whatever the situation happens to be. At the same time, it may be appropriate to hold space and create healing for disappointment.

Enjoy Your Life Without Comparisons
Don't compare yourself with others, and don't compare what you have with what you had in the past.
In the past few weeks I’ve shared some lines from my favorite prose poem, Desiderata. This week, I want to share a few more, on a different topic. In his famous poem, Max Erhmann wrote,
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
It’s so easy to look at someone else’s life and worry that they are blessed in ways that we are not. Perhaps we feel a colleague is more successful than we are. Perhaps we wonder why our friend has found love and we are still single. Maybe we grew up feeling that one of our siblings was favored more than we were.
There is an internet meme floating around that offers some insight into this. It says, “Never compare yourself to others because you are comparing your inside with their outside”.
We can only ever truly know our own journey.
It can happen, of course, that we find we are being treated unfairly when compared to others, perhaps in a workplace or family situation. It’s right to work to correct an imbalanced situation. Yet, it’s not right to spend our energy worrying about someone else’s success.
So often those worries come from an underlying fear that we, ourselves, aren’t good enough, or haven’t made the right decisions.
Comparisons can get us into trouble in other ways, too. When we have to choose between one path and another, we have to try to make an objective comparison to make the best choice. After we choose, it’s easy to fall into the trap of anxiety, worrying that we should have made a different choice. It’s usually better to wholeheartedly commit to the path we chose, and to trust that we did the right thing.
Another comparison trap happens when we make changes in life. We compare our new relationship partner with the ex, or our new home with the home we had to leave. It’s so much better to choose to focus on the present, rather than trying to compare our life now with our life in the past.
In all things, the more we can focus on our own success, our own healing and our own life in the present moment, the more we will love the life we have.
The StaarCorner
I am so excited for our first-ever international tarot conference to be held in January 2021 in Palm Beach Gardens!
On Friday, January 22, 2021, from 9:30 to 5:30, I am offering a special pre-conference tarot intensive workshop. This will be available at a separate ticket price, and will help you improve your tarot skills.
The day-long intensive with me, Christiana Gaudet, is called “Operational Tarot”. I will cover four important aspects of tarot reading; the energy and psychic work of tarot reading, card interpretation, technique and delivery.
The conference will open at 7:00 that evening and will continue until 6:00 Sunday evening.
I hope you plan to attend all three days! Registration will be opening soon at StaarCon.com.
Reading Tarot About Your Life
We all have moments when we feel unsure about life, unclear about our decisions, and discouraged about the way things are going. Tarot can be a great tool to help us gain perspective, understanding and confidence.
So often, people try to do tarot readings about their business competitors, exes, or people with whom they compare themselves. Those sorts of readings may or may not be helpful, depending on the situation. What is always helpful is to ask questions about yourself, and about your own life. When we take the focus off other people and put the focus on ourselves, we have the opportunity to grow, to increase our understanding, and improve our self-esteem.
If you are not sure what questions to ask, here are some ideas.
What are my special talents and abilities?
What can I do to improve my finances?
How can I heal from the things that have hurt me?
What do I need from a romantic partner?
What sort of career would be best for me?
What can I do to attract the right partner?
What is something good that is happening in my life?
Class in Palm City: Finding Meaning in the Minor Arcana
On Thursday, March 26, 2020, from 7 pm to 9 pm, I am excited to offer a special class at my Palm City office called “Finding Meaning in the Minor Arcana”.
The Minor Arcana is comprised of forty numbered cards and sixteen Court cards, divided into four suits. Although the term ‘Minor Arcana’ means ‘lesser secrets,’ there is nothing minor or lesser about the amount of information, inspiration and insight you can derive from these cards if you understand their meanings fully.
In this class, newer tarot readers will develop strong skills for working with these cards when they appear in a reading. Experienced readers will add new understanding and techniques to their tarot practice.
Bring a seventy-eight-card tarot deck or purchase one at the class.
Class fee is $37.50. Reserve your seat on Eventbrite.

Cards for Your Consideration
When I think about the trap we fall into when we make anxiety-producing comparisons, I often think about the Four of Cups.
The Four of Cups can be a card of decision-making, boredom and apathy. The Four of Cups can describe a feeling of not wanting or liking any of our options. Sometimes that is because we need to wait for better options. Sometimes, however, the Four of Cups calls out a bad attitude. The Four of Cups may be telling us that we are not celebrating the good things in our life. The Four of Cups may be encouraging us to take what is offered, and make it work, rather than worrying about what we don’t have, or what someone else has that we wish we had.
