April Fool’s Day!

It’s the beginning of April. Finally spring is on its way! Today is “April Fool’s Day,” a day to prank your friends. In the Tarot world, April Fool’s Day can be a time to reflect on Major Arcana O, the Fool.

Most tarotists see the Fool as the lead character in the story told by tarot; the story of life. The Fool represents each one of us on our journey, just as the other seventy-seven cards represent the lessons, events and characters we encounter along the way.

When we consider tarot as “The Fool’s Journey,” we understand that each tarot card is a lesson on our own journey. When we study tarot, we gain the benefit of those spiritual lessons.

When we embrace our “Inner Fool”, we free ourselves from the worry of ridicule and judgment. We accept life’s journey as it comes, and enjoy our freedom to explore our world.

Interpreting the Fool

When the Fool appears in a reading, the message can be mundane, spiritual, or both.

The Fool reminds us that life is a journey, not a destination.

The Fool advises us to take a leap of faith.

The Fool teaches us to live in the present moment, without sorrow in the past or fear of the future.

The Fool asks us to be the star of our own story.

The Fool instructs us to honor the inner child.

On a practical level, the Fool may suggest travel, or that a decision is at hand.

Reversed, the Fool may refer to risky behavior or immaturity.

The next time you see the Fool in a reading, remember the special importance this card holds, and consider its message carefully.

The Week in Review

This week I shared a piece for tarot readers in the Community Blog. It’s about a tarot reading concept I call “Tarot Filters”.

On my Dark Forest Blog, I shared a piece about being a metaphysical entrepreneur. Read “The Truth about Being a Soloprenuer”.

With the end of March, our Community Blog Contest draws to a close. Our winner is Jules, for her piece “Fortune Finder”. Jules will receive a copy of the new Celtic Lenormand.

Although the contest is now over, you are still welcome to share posts on the Community Blog!

From Around the Web

Have you seen this great post from The Hermit’s Lamp? When Andrew talks about being a dad and a tarot reader, it reminds me of my own tarot-parenting years. Read “Kids and Tarot: Giving them Tools to Understand Themselves.”

Here’s a blast from the past on Mary K. Greer’s blog. I was one of the readers who contributed to this great list of things Every Newbie Tarot Reader Should Know. This piece really shows how many different tarot traditions there are!

From Elephant Journal, here is an important post. Read “A Survival Guide for Highly Sensitive People, Introverts and Empaths”.

Total Lunar Eclipse April 4th

The moon will be full this Saturday, April 4th. There will be a rare brief total lunar eclipse visible in some parts of the world.

Whether or not you can see the full lunar eclipse, you can use its energy to manifest your growth and healing.

The full moon energy allows us to manifest our desires. The lunar eclipse strengthens this energy.

What would you like to manifest in your life this spring? On Saturday evening, take a moment to meditate and visualize your desires. Spend some time in the light of the moon if you can.

Over the course of the next few weeks, look for signs that your wishes are being fulfilled!

Learning Tarot: Queen of Pentacles

The Queen of Pentacles is very much like the Empress. The Queen of Pentacles is the Queen of Earth. She excels at practical matters and business, and is a nurturing mother.

When the Queen of Pentacles appears, she may be asking you to nurture yourself. You may need to tend business, home or finances more closely.

The Queen of Pentacles may empower you to pursue career advancement.

This card may represent a woman in your life. She may be born under an Earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) or may be a very practical, successful or nurturing person.

The Queen of Pentacles can predict success in business. When combined with certain cards, she can be an indicator of pregnancy or motherhood.

Next week, we will finish our journey through the suit of Pentacles, and through the tarot itself, with the King of Pentacles.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Appropriate for our focus on the Fool, your one-card reading this week is The World.

The World is the final card in the Major Arcana. Often we interpret this card as the completion of the Fool’s Journey.

This week, there may be some major cycles coming to an end for you. You may be completing an important project. Be willing to release things that are finished.

The World also asks that we consider the big picture. When something is bothering you, look at it from a long-term perspective. You be surprised how that changes the way you feel about things!
