You Are Too Sensitive!

If people tell you that you are too sensitive, this week's newsletter is for you! This week we are thinking about boundaries, psychic protection, and why your sensitivity is a strength, not a weakness.

Has anyone ever accused you of being too sensitive? Your answer is probably yes if you are a psychic, tarot reader, medium, intuitive, empath, or energy worker.

Your answer is likely yes if you were raised in a chaotic situation because you had to learn to sense the shifting energies around you.

If you are neurodivergent, either diagnosed or undiagnosed, your answer is also likely to be yes.

As sensitive people, we need to learn to process the world around us in ways that work for us.

Sometimes we may need to learn not to take things personally when they aren’t meant that way. Sometimes, people accuse us of being overly sensitive simply because they would rather not cease their hurtful behavior. When that happens, boundaries become the next line of defense.

Boundaries are essential for everyone. Diviners, intuitive, empaths, and energy workers especially need to be mindful of energetic boundaries, also known as psychic protection. Verbal boundaries help us deflect the hurtful words and behaviors of others and protect ourselves from further mistreatment. Yet, we also must be able to protect ourselves energetically. Psychic protection is essential during divination and energy work. It is equally important when we are out in the world doing our mundane tasks.

Boundary setting is a skill that most of us were not taught as children. Psychic protection is a skill that needs to be stressed more in tarot classes and divination gatherings. We must actively learn the skills to protect ourselves from emotional and energetic injury. We must also reject the criticism that we are ‘too sensitive.’ Instead, removing ourselves from people who do not honor our boundaries is usually best.

Our sensitivities may have come to us due to trauma, genetics, or destiny. Our sensitivities can sometimes make life difficult. The better we learn to manage how we experience the energies around us, the more we can use our sensitivities to enjoy what is beautiful, create what inspires us, and divine the truth around us.

The StaarCorner

One of the most important aspects of tarot and divination conferences is the opportunity for fellowship. New friends who speak our language and share our interests offer us immense comfort and courage as we grow, learn, and explore.

StaarCon separates itself from all other tarot and divination conferences because of the fellowship opportunities we offer in person and online.

You can enjoy the resort hotel with your conference friends if you join us in person. You can take the free shuttle to Rosemary Square and experience the restaurants, shops, and nightlife, making lifelong memories with your colleagues.

If you join us online, you will see that Accelevents offers a robust conference environment that allows on-demand video and text chat and networking with all your conference friends.

Every virtual and in-person ticketholder has access to the conference on Accelevents during the pre-conference time, the conference, and the 365-day AfterGlow. This means that in-person attendees can use the Accelevents app or website to plan their conference priorities and connect with other conference-goers, both virtual and in person.

A fascinating aspect of StaarCon is the lounge events on Accelevents. During the conference, attendees can meet virtually in the lounges to enjoy meals, beverages, and conversations together.

During the year-long AfterGlow, all attendees can watch recordings of the conference sessions they missed at their leisure. We will also have scheduled events in the lounges. Some StaarCon presenters will teach monthly or quarterly classes. There will also be a lounge for attendees to meet in groups at their convenience for conversation and study.

Attending StaarCon, whether in person or virtually, allows you to learn from our top-notch educators and, perhaps most significantly, to spend quality time with your tarot buddies.

Find a Response with Tarot

The next time you feel hurt by someone’s words or actions (or lack thereof), use tarot to help you understand what has happened and formulate a response.

Ask questions like, “What was the intent of that comment?” “What did they think my reaction would be?” “What should I take away from this?” “What is my best response?” “What do I need to know about this situation?”

Pull a card or cards for each question, using whatever tarot techniques you prefer.

As you contemplate what has happened and use tarot to fill in the black spots, you can understand and find a way forward. The time you take to work with the cards will allow you to recover from your internal emotional reaction and thoughtfully create an appropriate external reaction.

Creation and Divination

So much psychic work, energy healing, and magic involves the skill of creative visualization. Creative visualization uses the ability to create a scene in your mind’s eye that is clear and detailed.

When we visualize something clearly and put our energy into it, we raise energy that can turn thought into something more tangible.

Sometimes creative visualization allows us to see and feel what is present but not generally observed. For example, we may not all see the glow of chakras on ourselves or our friends. Yet, with visualization, we more easily see and feel the chakras that are always part of us.

My psychic protection technique involves creative visualization. Here is how it works.

I start by breathing into the root chakra. From there, I send energy from the root chakra down my legs into the floor and down to the earth. I curl my energy into the earth like a root, and as I inhale, I bring energy from the earth into the root chakra. With each inhalation, I breathe the energy up the spine, paying particular attention to any area that does not flow easily.

If I am preparing for a reading, I pay special attention to the throat and the brow so that I may be able to see what I need to see and say what I need to say.

When I reach the crown chakra at the top of the head, I allow the energy to gather and then release to heaven. At this moment, I am connected to both earth and heaven. It is with this unlimited supportive energy that I conduct my readings.

Yet, more protection is still needed. I return my attention to the crown chakra, where I allow the energy to flow up and out in all directions, falling like a fountain, returning to the earth, and cycling up through my root, up my spine, out my crown, and covering me fully in protective energy that is constantly replenished and renewed by the earth.

This is but one way to work with the power of creative visualization to raise energy and create psychic protection. Whether you use a technique like this for psychic work or simply to move more comfortably through the world, you will find psychic protection can make a huge difference for you.

The Root Chakra

The word “chakra” is Sanskrit for “wheel.” Chakras are energy centers within our bodies. There are many, but we often speak of the seven chakras that are aligned along the spine, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.

The root chakra is the first chakra, or base chakra, located at the base of the spine.

The root chakra is responsible for our connection to Earth. Our sense of security is related to the root chakra. People who feel insecure, especially financially, often have root chakra problems.

People who struggle with body weight often have root chakra issues, as well.

When we garden, bake bread, walk barefoot and spend time in nature, we are nurturing our connection to Earth, and healing the root chakra.

Through the root chakra, and our connection to Earth, we are able to create abundance and wellness in our lives.

Two Cards to Find Your Earth Connection with Tarot

The root chakra is about your connection with Earth. In metaphysics, and in tarot, our connection with Earth supports health, wealth, home and enterprise.

Here are two tarot cards that support the root chakra.

If you would like to clear and balance your root chakra and improve your connection with Earth, meditate with these cards, or put their images on your wall, or under your pillow.

The Ace of Pentacles is the card most often associated with the root chakra. This card is especially helpful if you want a new job, or want to improve your health.

The Nine of Pentacles is the card of personal security. If you need to feel more comfortable with yourself, more secure in your environment or more financially secure, spend some time with this card.

It is important to remember that tarot can help us, not only in divination, but also by connecting us with the energies we most need.

Which other tarot cards do you feel might support your connection to Earth?

On Augusts 3rd we enjoyed a brand new episode featuring Jean Redman and the upcoming Bali Tarot. We had a great conversation about Jean’s lengthy tarot career, her years in Bali and her development of the Bali Tarot.

Particularly interesting to me is the story of how Jean found the tarot archetypes within the spiritual culture of Bali. I also enjoyed Jean’s spiritual message and philosophies; I think you will, too!

Coming up on August 10th, we will enjoy an encore presentation of a show featuring twelve interesting people with unique spiritual paths, all answering one single question.

Enjoy the show at 9 pm Sunday evening on PEN, or find it on my YouTube channel.

Learning Tarot: Nine of Cups

Traditionally, the Nine of Cups is known as the “wish” card, or the “card of wishes fulfilled.” I sometimes call this the “fat and happy card.” The Nine of Cups has also been called “the Happy Merchant.”

In tarot, the number nine can express fullness. In the Nine of Cups, what we are full of is satisfaction.

Key words for the Nine of Cups include satisfaction, happiness, and fulfillment.

Although the Nine of Cups belongs to the element of Water, which is related to emotion and feelings rather than commerce or resources, it is interesting to note that many people associate the satisfaction of business ownership with the Nine of Cups.

In some situations, therefore, the Nine of Cups could reflect a successful business venture, or the desire to start a business.

The Nine of Cups can also appear in a reading to ask you to be clear about what you want to manifest in your life. What is it you wish for? What do you need to do to make sure your wishes are fulfilled?

Generally, the Nine of Cups is seen as an extremely positive card, reflecting a sense of happiness and accomplishment.

Next week we will finish our journey through the Cups pip cards with the Ten of Cups.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

This week, your one-card reading is the Seven of Pentacles.

Sometimes, the work we do seems futile. Sometimes, it seems as if we will never get ahead.

If you feel tired and overwhelmed, or overworked and underpaid, the Seven of Pentacles reminds you that your efforts will pay off in the long run.

This week, take the opportunity for rest and relaxation, but don’t forget the work you must do.

Don’t be afraid of hard work, even if you can’t immediately see the results.

Ultimately, you will see the fruits of your labor, and you will be glad that you kept your focus and your determination.
