Colors

Color is such an important part of our daily lives. Many of the choices we make each day are based on our attraction to colors. Colors affect our moods and influence our feelings.

Colors have metaphysical properties, too. We use colors in healing and manifestation by intentionally choosing the specific colors we need. We might wear a specific color, burn a candle of a specific color, or even eat a food of a specific color.

Each color has particular properties to support healing, or the manifestation of particular energies. For instance, yellow supports confidence, green supports health and wealth, and red supports romance.

The seven chakras (energies centers) along the spine are each associated with one of the colors of the spectrum. We can use colored gemstones, or even the color of our clothing, to help support specific chakras.

Many tarot readers rely on the colors of the cards to give them information and add depth to the reading.

Beyond making our world more beautiful, colors are tools we can use to aid us in healing, divination and manifestation.

The Properties of Color

Here is a list of some generally accepted properties of color. You can add energy to your life simply by choosing the color you want to support and manifest in your life. Find your color in a candle that you burn while focusing on your desires. Find your color in the clothing and gemstones you wear, or the food you eat. Find your color in flowers. Use colored lights to bathe in healing energy.

If you want spiritual healing, unconditional love, or clear communication, choose blue.

If you want health and wealth, choose green.

If you want psychic development and spirit communication, choose purple.

If you want confidence, choose yellow.

If you want romance, choose red or pink.

You can use any color for any purpose, as long as it feels right to you.

The Week in Review

This week, all three of my blog posts have accompanying videos!

On my personal blog, Tarot Trends, you can read and watch my review of the new Japaridze Tarot from U.S. Games.

On my community blog, Tarot Topics, I answered another question about tarot. This question is about the process of advanced tarot reading.

On my Dark Forest blog, I shared a video I happened to capture of two sand hill cranes dancing! These huge red-headed birds are common in Florida, but they are always a joy to watch!

From Around the Web

This week, fellow tarot pro Theresa Reed hit a home run with her blog post, “Question the Authorities”. If you have your own business, or want to have your own business, you must read this!

From News.Mic, here is a great listicle that gives us a peek at what some very successful people were doing in their twenties. This is both fun and inspiring!

If you would like to expand your tarot knowledge, check out Raven’s Tarot Site. You will find some interesting material about tarot and Kabbalah, and tarot and astrology.

Colors in Tarot

There are many methods of tarot reading that rely heavily on interpreting the colors of the cards.

Some tarot decks are black-and-white only; they are to be colored by the tarotist, as part of the process of learning the cards and bonding with the deck.

With so many tarot decks available, we often chose our favorite decks based on our feelings about their colors.

As an exercise, ask a question of the cards. Pull one card as an answer. Rather than interpreting it as you normally would, simply looking at the colors of the card and make an interpretation based on how those colors make you feel.

Does this seem like a valid way to work with the cards for you? Do you consider card color when you do readings in general? Do you prefer a deck with a uniform color, or do you like a deck that uses a variety of color?

You determine the role that color plays in your tarot practice!

Learning Tarot: Ten of Swords

In many decks, the Ten of Swords is the single most disturbing image of the 78 cards. Typically, we see a person impaled by ten swords.

With this card, as with some of the other Swords cards, it is important to remember that often, the things that pierce us and lay us low are thoughts and words, and nothing more substantial than that.

In tarot, the number ten speaks of the end of a cycle, and the beginning of a new cycle. The Ten of Swords can speak of something that needed to end, or the pain of something ending.

The Ten of Swords is often interpreted as an unfavorable outcome, or an unadvisable action.

The Ten of Swords can be an indicator of pain, difficulty and suffering.

The Ten of Swords reminds us not to let unkind words or painful thoughts rule us.

The Ten of Swords might occasionally refer to literal back pain. I have also seen it come up to reference acupuncture.

When you see the Ten of Swords, you can be sure there is some discomfort, or some injury. You must discover the source and nature of the injury, and the possible remedy.

We often prefer not to see dark cards such as the Ten of Swords in a reading. However, the Ten of Swords, and other darker cards, offer us the opportunity to embrace real healing.

Next week we will meet the Page of Swords as we continue our journey through the suit of Air.

I’m Traveling Northeast in March and August!

I had such a wonderful time on my Northeastern Tour last August. The only frustration was I didn’t have time on the calendar to accommodate everyone who wanted to host a psychic house party with me! In 2015 I will remedy this by scheduling two trips. I will be in Connecticut from March 20th to March 29th, and again from August 7th to August 23rd.

Psychic house parties with me will be available in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts during those trips. Please give me a call or send me an email if you would like to reserve your date now.

While I am always available to serve you with phone and Skype readings, the opportunity for in-person readings is limited. If you live in the Northeast, don’t miss your chance to meet with me in person in 2015!

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one-card reading this week is the Ten of Pentacles. This week, pay attention to your home and family.

Now is a great time for cleaning, decorating, organizing, remodeling and repairing your home. It’s also an auspicious time to make a housing change or a real estate deal.

On a deeper level, it’s time to think about your family from a generational perspective. What did you receive from the prior generation? What will you pass on to the next?

Think about this both in terms of the positive family traits you carry and the less-than-positive generational cycles.

Spiritually, this is a good week to connect with your ancestors and departed family members in spirit. Recognize their presence in your life, and their influence upon you.

Colors

Color is such an important part of our world, but we sometimes forget to acknowledge it. We chose colors every day, whether in fashion, décor, cooking or gardening.

Colors have spiritual implications as well. Each color has an energy. We can consciously work with color to heal, create and manifest.

Colors evoke mood and memory. When we are young colors are some of the first things we learn. Very quickly we choose a favorite color which becomes a cornerstone of our sense of identity.

Colors affect our moods. Colorful things make us feel cheerful. We associate bright vibrant colors with celebrations and festivities. Softer tones can help us relax.

Color brings out the creativity in all of us. Colors can help us heal.

A Chakra Tarot Reading

The world “chakra” is Sanskrit for “wheel.” Chakras are centers of spiritual power in the body. There are seven major chakras aligned along the spine. Each is responsible for certain aspects of health and wellbeing. From the bottom of the spine to the crown of the head each chakra corresponds with a color of the spectrum. We can support chakra healing and strength by wearing the specific chakra color. In meditation we visualize each chakra glowing with its color.

Here is a chakra tarot spread. Pull one card for each chakra to discuss its current strength. Read the cards as the chakras are aligned, from bottom to top.

Seven-Crown-Violet: What is my ability to connect with those in Spirit and hear the wisdom of my angels, guides and guardians?

Six-Brow-Indigo: What is my ability to tune in to my intuition and psychic awareness?

Five-Throat-Blue: What is my ability to communicate my truth?

Four-Heart-Green: What is my ability to give and receive love?

Three-Solar Plexus-Yellow: What is my ability to know and manifest my will?

Two-Sacral-Orange: What is my connection to my family members?

One-Root-Red: What is my ability to feel secure and grounded?

From Life Coach Linda, a short post about the way we greet each other.

Color Magick

Color is an important component of magick and manifestation. Since each color carries an energy you can choose the color that you associate with the energy you wish to attract. This can be as simple as choosing what color to wear for an important event.

You can burn a candle in support of your desire and make that energy stronger by choosing a specifically colored candle. The colors of gemstones designate the energy they attract. You can even use color magick in decorating your home by choosing colors appropriate for the energies you want to attract to your home.

You may choose colors based on how they make you feel. There are also some standard color associations, as follows.

To attract romantic love and passion use red or pink.

To attract wealth use green or brown.

To attract good health use red or green.

To assist with clear communication use blue.

To gain confidence use yellow.

For protection use black.

The Spiritual Path of Tarot

“The Spiritual Path of Tarot” is the name of a telesummit that will run from September 16 through October 1. I am happy that I am participating in this telesummit; I will be presenting Major Arcana 18, the Moon. Kim Wilborn, the telesummit’s organizer, has chosen a well-known tarotist to present each of the twenty-two Major Arcana cards.

Tarot has often been called a “path” or a “journey.” That is because tarot is more than a divination tool. When we study tarot we embrace each card as a lesson along life’s path. When we perform a reading we contemplate the reasons particular lessons present themselves.

If you are interested in attending the telesummit, simply visit the webpage and register.

In addition to the telesummit, there are many ways to deepen your understanding of the spiritual nature of tarot. Take a class, visit a webpage, attend a webinar, or watch a video. Never before have there been so many easily available opportunities to embrace tarot as the spiritual tool it is.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one card reading this week is the Six of Wands.

Simply put, this is the card of victory after battle.

Whatever difficulties you have faced recently are coming to an end. Your ability to persevere and continue forward is paying off. Despite having to struggle, you are now the victor.

This card suggests that your achievements will be recognized and that your efforts will be successful.

If you are going through a difficult time right now, stay strong. Never doubt your ability to be victorious.
