What Never Stops
Time is always passing, and always changing us. Yet some things remain eternal.
I have a big birthday coming up this fall. It’s one of those numbers that ends in zero and feels impossible. At the very same time, I am having so much fun with my new grandbabies, who are now no longer preemies, and are developing and growing and learning every day.
All this has me thinking about the different stages of life, what changes, what ends, and, maybe most importantly, the things that never stop.
There are so many differences between people of different ages. Yet, there are some things that can and should go on forever in our lives.
I get frustrated with people who use age as an excuse to refuse to learn new things, when our curiosity and ability to learn and grow (absent of cognitive decline, of course) should never stop.
I feel sad for people who have stopped feeling love for their partners, when our ability to love never stops, and has the potential to deepen over time.
I can tell you that as I grow older, I have no desire, and no plans, to stop the work I do, which is so important to me and defining of my life.
Of course, there are some things we smartly and logistically become too old to do. There is a privilege that comes with each age which allows us to relinquish certain thoughts, responsibilities, and activities. Beyond that, though, I am much more interested in the things that bring us so much joy they never stop, and we never want them to stop.
What are the things that never stop for most of us? Our love of family, our enjoyment of nature, our creativity, and our inspiration. For some of us, our work. For others, travel.
What are the things you never want to stop doing and enjoying?
Whatever our current age, the more we focus on our eternal and ongoing passions, the more engaged and vital will be, for as long as we live.

We are super excited that Kooch Daniels will be presenting at StaarCon. Kooch studied numerology with Sri Harish Johari. She has been a professional tarot reader for many years.
Her presentation at StaarCon will be “Finding Tarot Secrets in Your Birthdate”.
This hands-on combination of tarot and numerology will be interesting and approachable for diviners of all skill levels.
Kooch is an author who has presented at many conferences, including The Reader’s Studio. We are delighted that she will be joining us at StaarCon 2023.
Tickets are now available. You may join us in person in West Palm Beach or online on Accelevents.
What to Keep, and What to Let Go
As we get older, there is always the question of what to keep and what to let go. This process starts when we are toddlers and continues throughout life. If there is an activity, relationship, or ideal that we think we might be outgrowing, tarot can help us determine whether we need to lean in or let go. We can simply think of the thing in question, and pull some cards to see what value, or what danger, it holds for us going forward.
We can also, at any time, perform a simple two-card spread. Let the first card be what happens if you let something go, and the second card be what happens if you keep it.

Guidance on the Journey
There are many tarot cards that help us understand our relationship to time. For example, the Hermit and Temperance can both remind us to take our time, and to be patient.
The Six of Cups may speak of nostalgia, or a longing for the past. In some contexts, the Six of Cups could remind us of the essence of who we are, no matter how much time has passed.
The Knight of Pentacles may speak of the slow passage of time. The Knight of Swords and the Eight of Wands may both recommend swift action and speak of things that happen quickly. The Wheel of Fortune and the Eight of Pentacles may both speak of things that repeat time after time.
What cards might speak of the things that do not change and do not stop over time? I think this is a very personal question because it could be different for everyone. It is interesting to note, however, that the infinity symbol, or lemniscate, appears on four different cards in the Waite Smith Tarot. Those cards are the Magician, Strength, the World, and the Two of Pentacles. Perhaps these cards may give us a clue about the things that remain eternal for us all.

The Magic of Love
Love is not just romance. Love is a spiritual energy that guides us, heals us, and creates miracles.
So often when we think of love, especially in the context of tarot reading, we think about the pain and joy of romantic love.
Yet, love is also something we share with family, friends, and pets. Even more, love is an energy that surrounds us.
To me, love is the surest proof of the existence of a Higher Power. When we feel love, we touch a spiritual energy that reaches beyond our physical form, and beyond space and time.
When we speak of the magic of love, we often think of spells to heal relationships, attract a lover, or release a relationship that is not working. There is so much more about love that is magical.
Love itself is a magical energy. The power of love can heal us, protect us, and create miracles for us. Love is an energy inside each of us. None of us is without the energy of love, and none of us is immune from its transformative power.
When we open our hearts and feel the power of love, we harness a limitless energy for healing, creativity, and wellbeing, for ourselves and others.
The StaarCorner
At StaarCon, we have four mission statements that remain constant year to year, event to event. However, each year we try to create something better, and do more to make our conference a uniquely meaningful experience.

Those attending in person will enjoy our fabulous new venue.
These are but a few of the positive changes we are making for StaarCon 2023. Each year we will grow, so that each year we will have the best conference ever. Get your ticket now for StaarCon 2023, either in person or online, and see for yourself!
Find the Magic of Love with Tarot
We can use tarot divination for self-reflection, and to find ways to be more loving toward ourselves and others.
Try asking questions such as the following and pulling one card in answer to each question.
How can I be more loving toward myself?
How can I better show love to my partner?
How can I attract a new partner, or a new friend?
How can I spread the energy of love today?
How can I act in a more loving way at work, or in my daily life?

Guidance on the Journey
Tarotists often think of the suit of Cups as being the cards that speak of romantic love. I think it is important to understand two limitations inherent in this idea. First, any card in the deck can offer information about our relationships. Second, the suit of Cups speaks of all sorts of feelings, emotions, connections, and relationships.
I see the Ace of Cups as the perfect card to represent the magical energy of unconditional love, the open heart chakra, and the powerful nature of love in all its forms. This card can predict a new romance, yet there is much more within this card.
The Ace of Cups is said to represent the Holy Grail, the womb of Mary Magdalene.
The Ace of Cups represents the element of Water, and therefore the power to bring love in all its forms.
When you see the Ace of Cups in a reading, consider all its possible meanings, and all the way it can portend positive change and possibilities of healing, as well as the exciting prospect of romance.
Use the Ace of Cups in meditation to heal your heart, and to open you to the magic of love.

Unfolding
Time does not move it a straight line, it unfolds. We are always unfolding, too.
We think of our life experiences in a linear way. Time is a line, and our feelings and experiences are categorized along that timeline.
What happens when we think of time as something that unfolds, revealing new possibilities with each step?
When we look at everything that has happened to lead us to where we are today, we can clearly see that we were never walking a straight line. One thing leads to another in curves, and layers, and mysteries.
When we think of our own personal growth, the same is true. We are each unfolding as we move toward healing and enlightenment. When something unfolds, we can see its true size, and its true nature.
When I was a child, my mother taught me some simple origami. I loved folding the smooth, brightly colored paper to make unlikely animals and objects. Many years later, I taught my own daughter.
What strikes me is that in origami, sometimes you must make a fold, and then unfold it, to make a crease that will create a shape later in the process. That seems like a metaphor for the things that happen in life that leave a mark upon us. Sometimes what seems like an unnecessary step that marks us today will be exactly what we need to help us create what we wanted all along.
The StaarCorner
Brenda Elizabeth, also known as Lady Lenormand, will present an intensive on Friday morning at StaarCon called Introduction to Lenormand. In four 45-minute sessions, Brenda will take you through the entire process of learning to work with the Petit Lenormand cards.
Like tarot, Lenormand cards are a specific system of card divination. While tarot works in metaphors, Lenormand speaks in more literal terms.
With only thirty-six cards in the deck, Lenormand is read in pairs or groupings of cards. A full Lenormand reading, called a grand tableau, uses all the cards in the deck.
If you would like to learn to use Lenormand cards, or if you would like to increase your skill, consider attending StaarCon’s Friday sessions, either in person in West Palm Beach, or online!
Tickets are available now for StaarCon 2023, January 20-22.
Unfolding a Tarot Card
Obviously, you should never actually literally fold a tarot card!
Yet, our relationship with each card unfolds over time. How we perceive and understand each card can change from reading to reading, and from year to year.
Likewise, when we perform a tarot reading, the information unfolds over the course of a reading. Each card can mean more than one thing within a single reading. Combinations of cards can add greater information. You can draw more cards throughout the course of the reading to provide more information and answer the questions that arise.
When we think about tarot knowledge and tarot reading as something that unfolds, we give ourselves the opportunity to dive deeply into tarot understanding over time, and to get the most information possible from a single tarot reading.

Guidance on the Journey
When we divine with tarot or other tools, we often want to know what will happen in the future. Sometimes we fear the answer. Sometimes unpracticed or unethical professionals will tell us firmly that something will or will not happen.
Predictions are a part of life, not only in divination, but in finance, weather, medicine, fashion, and fads.
Yet, if time is always unfolding, and life rarely moves in a straight line, we must remember that predictions are only possibilities. Some serve as warnings and allow us to make corrections to create a better outcome. Others serve as encouragement, giving us the inspiration to work toward our goals.
Sometimes the best divinations give us ideas and insights rather than clear predictions. Sometimes the best advice we can get from our divination is to trust that the universe, and our lives, will unfold in the best ways possible.

Generational Energy
We inherit behaviors and traits from our elders from nature and nature. There is also an energetic component that can follow us around.
It is no secret that we inherit traits and habits, good and bad, from our parents and grandparents. We pass these on to our children and grandchildren.
We often think of this in terms of nurture and nature. Some traits are genetic, and some are learned behavior.
There is a third element, along with nurture and nature, that can be passed from generation to generation. That element is energy.
There are occurrences and circumstances that seem to repeat from generation to generation. There are patterns that can follow us over the years, even when we do the healing and self-reflection to consciously make different choices and heal from generational trauma.
Sometimes these patterns are obviously not related to our behaviors and choices, and yet they occur.
This is an energetic phenomenon, and so the solution to break these cycles of patterns is also energetic.
If you feel that you are carrying a generational energy that is not helpful to you, you must seek to release it. Use meditation, affirmation, and intention to bring awareness to the pattern. Then, actively seek to release it.
We inherit many positive things, tangible and intangible, from our elders. The energy that attracts unhealthy things into our lives is not an inheritance with which we must live.
The StaarCorner
For StaarCon 2023, our Friday program will include four intensive sessions. You will be able to attend two of them, and watch the other two during the AfterGlow. One of our intensive presentations will be a very interesting exploration into artificial intelligence as it pertains to tarot. This presentation will be led by tarot artist Ciro Marchetti. Ciro’s presentation will be three 45-minute sessions, with short breaks in between. It’s called “It Takes Three to Tango”.
We are very excited to welcome Ciro Marchetti to StaarCon 2023, and to experience this exciting presentation.
StaarCon tickets are now available. You can join us in person in West Palm Beach, or online on Accelevents. You can join us for a single day, for two days, or for all three days. We look forward to seeing you in January!
Break the Cycle with Tarot
You can use tarot for healing energy work. Simply find the cards in the deck that represent to you the energy you would like to dismiss. Along with those cards, find the Wheel of Fortune to represent the cyclical patterns, and the Eight of Pentacles to represent the repetition of those patterns.
Place the Wheel of Fortune and the Eight of Pentacles on the table, face up, as you visualize those patterns. Next to them, place the cards you have chosen to represent the energies you want to dismiss. As you do, visualize the specifics of those people, occurrences, or situations.
Then, visualize your life without these energies. Turn the cards you have chosen face down. Let the last card you turn face down be the Wheel of Fortune. When you turn the Wheel of Fortune, picture all that energy, and the consequences of that energy, leaving your body, and your life. Exhale deeply, sending all that energy away from you.

Guidance on the Journey
‘Energy work’ is a broad term that can describe energy healing techniques, magical techniques, breathwork, and other modalities. Energy work is what we must do, either with a trusted professional or for ourselves, to break generational energetic patterns.
We become conscious of these patterns when we realize there are uncanny similarities in our adulthood to the unpleasant people, events, or circumstances of childhood. If you find yourself asking “Why do I always attract these sorts of people?” or “Why does this always happen to me?” you may be carrying some unwanted generational energy.
It is completely possible to release the energy that causes those unfortunate patterns while still enjoying happy childhood memories, and the love and support of your elders and ancestors.
Negative energetic patterns are not always the result of a bad childhood. These patterns can show up in all sorts of families.
When you are ready to change the energy around you, there are many people, tools, and traditions ready to help you. This should not be an expensive or complicated procedure. Whatever methods and modalities you choose, the first step to releasing unwanted generational energy is awareness.
