Beyond the Veil

There has never been a time in my life when I did not love Halloween. Whether I was trick-or-treating, dressing up for a Halloween party or concert, helping my kids create costumes, attending a Samhain ceremony, speaking at a Samhain festival, or, now, celebrating with a whole new generation, my grandchildren. Halloween is one of my favorite times of year.
The spiritual aspects of Halloween are the reason for the season, though many people do not know (or willfully misunderstand) its origins. The entire holiday is based on the concept of the thinning veil at this time of year.
What exists beyond the veil? We believe that our dearly departed loved ones, along with our guides, angels, and ancestors, exist on the other side of the veil that separates our world from theirs.
While we receive support from Spirit throughout the year, this is the perfect time for us to reach out to those on the other side. What can you do to reach beyond the veil this week? Pay attention to your dreams and ask those in spirit to visit you there. Buy flowers for your loved ones in spirit or set up an ancestor altar in your home. Perform a divination and ask those in spirit to speak to you.
Along with the thinning of the veil, Halloween is also the third and final harvest celebration, and the witches’ new year, so it is also a perfect time to set your intentions for your own harvest and your own new year, and enlist those in spirit to support you in bringing your goals to fruition.

November marks the start of a new month of events in the Meeting Hall lounge on Accelevents, beginning with Alyassia Taylor on Sunday, November 2, at 8 pm. Join her for a celebration of the upcoming full moon, complete with a sound bath and tarot study.
Right after that, on Tuesday, November 4, at 6 pm, it’s time for Frank’s Rock-and-Roll Tarot Lounge. Frank does a fantastic job curating songs within specific themes for a fun and informative session.

Mediumship with Tarot
There are many ways that those in spirit speak through tarot. When we conduct a tarot reading, we are always in the presence of spirit, and we create the conditions that make it easy for us to hear their voices. Anything that comes into our mind during a reading may be a loved one in spirit trying to come through.
In a tarot reading, many cards can be interpreted as a message from a loved one in spirit or as an indication of their presence. Intuition will guide us to those interpretations when appropriate.
We can also do tarot spreads or ask questions of those in spirit. When we interpret the cards in this context, it is amazing how clearly our beloved departed speak through the cards.
