When the Question is the Answer

We always have questions, big and small, meaningful and mundane. We wonder about the future, about ourselves, and about what might be true spiritually. It was not until I was an adult that I learned some religions discourage their congregants from asking questions. The church I was raised in encouraged us to question our own beliefs, the church's doctrines, and the church leadership when needed. I was raised to believe that if we don’t ask questions, we will never learn and grow.

We all have an internal set of beliefs about life that we have acquired over time. We usually share these beliefs with others in conversation and repeat them to ourselves quietly. I have recently started questioning my own belief statements. For example, I used to always say and believe that everything happens for a reason. Now, because I have forced myself to question that, I have amended that belief to ‘sometimes there is a deeper spiritual reason that unfortunate things happen.’

People often become rigid and resist questioning their beliefs, whether spiritual or societal. That inflexibility is generally hurtful, as growth and resilience all come from our ability to pivot and respond to internal and external changes.

It’s normal to fear change, but that fear keeps us rigid and prevents us from evolving. We must practice being comfortable enough with ourselves to embrace an internal change of heart and mind.

We are always looking for answers. Yet, often, it is also helpful to look for the right questions. When we stay curious in life, we create new opportunities for our future.

The StaarCorner

We have about a month and a half until the StaarCon 5 AfterGlow is over. Our new platform, StaarCast, will keep recorded sessions available indefinitely, unlike Accelevents, which does not. Make sure you watch and rewatch your favorite sessions from StaarCon 5 before January 26!

One of the best features of Accelevents that we will certainly carry over to StaarCast is the concept of lounge presentations. The lounge works very much like Zoom, where all participants can speak and be on camera if they like. The improvement that StaarCast will add is that these lounge sessions will be recorded, a capability that Accelevents does not have.

We still have some great lounge sessions before the end of the AfterGlow, including tomorrow evening, Thursday, December 11, at 5:30 pm, with Serena Fox. Serena, also known as Magic Oma, offers a friendly, supportive space for healing, growth, divination, and seasonal fun. Join her tomorrow!

StaarCast News

The team has been busy all week working on payment system details and fine-tuning the meeting interface.

StaarCast presenters can enable the meeting recorder to record the entire workshop or meeting, or selected segments. Participants in your seminars and meetings can review the recordings at their convenience during the access period granted by membership or pay-per-view purchase.

Presenters can grant guest access to their presentations. Guests can enter the meeting room with a single click. At any time, guests can upgrade their guest membership to a free membership or purchase a premium membership.

The StaarCast presenter level member can upload videos and set pay-per-view or membership pricing. The payout platform now supports payouts using Stripe or PayPal.

I know you have been patiently waiting for your own opportunity to test the platform, and I hope to mail the invitations soon!

The Questions in the Cards

Here is a fun exercise. Pull a tarot card at random. Rather than interpreting it as a reading, write down all the questions you can think of that this card might prompt you to ask, now or any time you see it. Bonus points if you actually contemplate and divine on the most pertinent questions.

Here is an example of how that could work. I just pulled the Fool reversed. Here is my list of questions.

What is my current relationship with risk?
Am I taking too many risks?
Is my inner child sad?
Am I choosing not to have fun?
Am I avoiding an important decision?
Am I questioning my path?
Should I get a dog?

Some of these questions are appropriate for me right now; others seem less so. I think the value of this exercise is twofold. First, it teaches us to see the questions in the cards. Then, it provides a thoughtful contemplation and divination exercise for us.
