What is my purpose in life?

Am I on the right path?

Many people wonder and worry about whether they are living their lives in accordance with their own highest good. Of course, I use tools like tarot to help answer these questions in ways both profound and practical.

Why do so many people struggle to know that they are doing the right things in life? I think the answers to this question are unique to the individual, but broadly, here are three reasons I believe so many people question their own life choices.

First, many people are raised to believe that a Higher Power has a plan for them. Often, in childhood, authority figures use that concept to enforce their idea of what that plan is, rather than allowing the individual to find it for themselves. This causes us to constantly question if we are doing the right thing.

Second, the garden-variety culprits that make most of us unhappy, like anxiety and imposter syndrome, cause us to believe that we cannot or should not make bold choices for our lives.

Finally, there is an odd belief held by many spiritual people that if something is easy, it is meant to be. If something is difficult to attain, it isn’t meant for you. I rail against this every time I hear it. Yes, sometimes things flow well, and we can take that as a positive sign when it happens. When the flow does not occur and it becomes harder to accomplish your goals, it may be a sign to reassess your goals. Yet, I believe it is more often a sign that what you want is worth working for, and the energy you put into it will make you ready to run with it when it finally comes together.

I sort of hate the idea that we all must have a special purpose. Why is living in love and gratitude not purpose enough? What if enjoying a lovely sunset is really what it is all about? Yet, many people feel a strong calling to something. Those who don’t feel a calling or find that their calling is truly unattainable are left wondering what it is that they are supposed to be doing.

When I am tasked with helping a person find their purpose or understand their path, the thing I look for is their passion. If I can identify where your passion lies, I can help you discover how to bring that passion to life. I can assure you that if you are living your passion, you are on the right path and living your purpose.

What if you can’t identify your passion? This often happens when, in childhood, people are not encouraged to explore and discover their interests. When this happens, we must engage the inner child and do the exploration we were unable to do earlier. When we realize our passion, we find our path and purpose.

The StaarCorner

One of the great things about StaarCon is the wide range of topics we cover. While the initial goal was to be a great tarot conference, we tarotists are part of a larger community of diviners, artists, spiritualists, and creators.

Over the past five years, we have explored a wide array of topics. I expect that exploration will continue and only become more interesting and profound. Because of StaarCon, I am exploring new methods of divination, such as runes and Lenormand. I know that StaarCon has helped many other people embrace new knowledge as well.

One of our most popular presenters at StaarCon 5 and in the StaarCon 5 AfterGlow is Kimberly Scheurer, The Medium That Rocks. I am excited to tell you that Kimberly will be offering Spirit Circle: A Modern-Day Séance in the StaarCon 5 AfterGlow in September and October. We are grateful to be able to provide these inspiring and mind-blowing sessions to all our StaarCon 5 ticketholders.

Kimberly’s September session will take place on Thursday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m.

I also hope that you will join me, Christiana Gaudet, the day before, on Wednesday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m. Bring your tarot cards, and we will play a fun ‘game’ with the Major Arcana that will help you learn more about tarot and more about yourself.

We anticipate that our new platform will be up and running before the end of the StaarCon 5 AfterGlow in January. Look for announcements here to learn about it and discover ways you can participate as we continue to offer you opportunities to learn and experience various ways of connecting to spirit and understanding yourself.

How Tarot Helps

Tarot can help us discover our passions and transform them into meaningful purposes. Tarot can help us live purposefully, even if we are not following a specific calling. Whether we are pulling cards ourselves, seeing a reader, or both, regular check-ins with the cards can help us understand who we are, where we want to go, and how to get there.

When we study tarot, we understand that the very structure of the deck is a path unfolding. We, as the Fool, must follow that path and learn its lessons.

It is important to consider that the Fool is the card that represents each of us on our journey through life. The Fool asks us to engage the inner child, be willing to be joyful on the journey, and take a leap of faith.

Through study and divination, tarot will help us find the inspiration and the courage to embrace our passion and find a sense of purpose on life’s journey, wherever it may take us.

This Saturday, September 20, at 1:00 p.m., please join me for a free all-levels tarot class at Mandel Public Library in West Palm Beach. While I have been giving classes quarterly for the past couple of years, this month marks the first monthly class. For the next twelve months, I will be teaching at the library once a month. I hope to see you there often!

Following a calling or developing a passion will very often lead us to formal schooling, independent study, or apprenticeship. The process of learning something new can be daunting. Yet, this is often the only path that can take us to our sense of purpose.

A wonderful aspect of education, whether formal or not, is the fellowship we share with other seekers. We can help and inspire one another.

When we are just beginning a long journey toward an important goal, knowing that we are not alone can be a great source of encouragement. Spending time with people who are on a similar journey can make the journey easier and create a lifelong support network.

When we decide to go to school or take up a study as an adult, we do not often think about the friends we might make along the way, as we did when we were kids. For many of us, the most enjoyable aspect of our K-12 education was the social opportunities it offered. The same applies to college, if we went right after high school. Going back, years later, does not always hold the same anticipation. Yet, the opportunity to make friends and professional contacts is just as valid for adults as it is for younger people, and perhaps even more vital.
