Happy Valentine's Day!

“Happy Valentine’s Day” is what my three-year-old granddaughter said to a neighbor in passing, early in January. Our young twins were quite impressed with Halloween and Christmas. Once Christmas was over, they wondered what came next and were delighted to hear about Valentine’s Day.

The origins and evolution of holidays have always fascinated me. Now that I once again have the privilege of watching tiny humans discover holidays in real time, holidays have become a bit less academic and even more fun than when my own kids were little.

It’s easy to dismiss Valentine’s Day as a money grab or as a day to make single people feel lonely. Yet, from a broader perspective, I find great value in setting aside a day to celebrate love. In fact, I try to celebrate love every day!

One of my favorite Valentine’s Day activities is making cards for friends. While I am not terribly artistically talented, it is always fun to play with glitter and glue sticks.

Sometimes the pressure to meet expectations can steal the joy from a holiday. Perhaps viewing holidays from the perspective of toddlers who don’t know what to expect is a good reset. Celebrating a holiday doesn’t have to be performative. It can be fun and meaningful, no matter how simple you keep it.

This week, I am wishing you the joys of connection and creativity, and the healing power of love in all its forms.

We are excited to welcome you to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on October 2, 3, and 4 this year! Of course, we will have an exciting array of presentations and activities for you to enjoy. This week, we are delighted to announce headlining presenter Pamela Chen.

Pamela is the author of Enchanted Crystal Magic and creator of Witchling Academy Tarot and Tarot of the Owls, published with Llewellyn. Her Caticorn Tarot is published by U.S. Games. With Hay House, she has published the Akashic Soul Oracle cards and Galactic Star Tarot.

She is an Akashic Records teacher, magical business mentor, and manifestation coach. She is the co-founder of a mystery school with her business partner, Alexandra Hanly.

Pamela is excited to share her special brand of magic with us at StaarCon 6! She will teach us about the Akashic Records, a fascinating concept pioneered in the late 1800s by C.W. Leadbeater and Helena Blavatsky and further developed in the early 20th century by Rudolf Steiner and Edgar Cayce. In fact, Edgar Cayce claimed to access the Akashic Records in his readings.

We are excited to hear how Pamela uses the Akashic Records, and to learn from her at StaarCon 6!

StaarCast 6 Virtual Conference

This week, the team focused on the StaarCon website, so there were no changes to the visible frontend of StaarCast Community.

The attendees from past StaarCon events were imported into their new home on StaarCast. They join the already imported presenters from past events. Attendees from past events will receive an invitation to accept a free membership to StaarCast when it opens.

Space was reserved for the intensive StaarCon 6 Live Stream Event in October. The main stage will be streamed live from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, but that isn’t all! The Virtual StaarCon 6 event on StaarCast will feature virtual presentations from many of our presenters and artists. Every live event ticket holder will receive an invitation to join StaarCast to view the virtual event presentations.

Love Readings

There is a stereotype that suggests we tarot readers spend all day offering solace and advice to the lovelorn. While readings often address questions about romance and love, tarot speaks to every human experience.

We also tend to think of relationship readings as specifically about romance, when in fact we do readings on all kinds of relationships, including those within families, workplaces, and friend groups.

Over the past few years, I have noticed an increase in requests for a ‘love reading’ during livestream reading sessions. This question does not specify a concern nor reveal the current circumstances.

I used to find this request a bit off-putting because it isn’t a question. Now, I have an internal question I ask the cards when I receive this request, and the results have been good.

When someone requests a love reading on a live stream without providing further information, I simply ask the cards to show what is true about the querent’s romantic and emotional life right now, then pull a few cards.

While the cards may or may not reveal the presence of a partner, the cards will certainly reveal a state of mind and heart. These short readings often offer insight into how the querent is approaching and experiencing love and romance.

This is a far cry from the expected ‘You will meet a tall, dark, handsome stranger’ sort of reading. Yet this kind of reading, whether on a livestream or as part of a larger one-on-one session, can help a querent understand how to improve this aspect of life in a way that a romantic prediction cannot.

Tarot Wisdom For the Week

I have a special relationship with the Page of Cups. While this card can indicate a child, a pet, or an adult just learning to manage their emotions, to me, it can mean something more.

Pages are about learning and communication. Cups are associated with the element of Water, which is associated with emotion, and sometimes specifically with the emotion of love.

Over time, the meaning of this card has condensed in my brain to be simply ‘a message of love.’ Obviously, when it appears in a reading, I might interpret it in a multitude of ways, as with any tarot card. But when I think of this card’s spiritual essence, I see it as teaching us to speak with love, to speak kindly, and to listen for messages of love from spirit.

What better card could there be to represent a holiday that celebrates sharing love letters with one another?
