Shuffle!
Illustration of a tarot reader.
Today, the first day of April, finds the Northern Hemisphere in the middle of many cultural Spring holidays. Passover is a time that celebrates liberty after enslavement. Easter celebrates life after death. These are all themes that make sense at a time when the Earth itself is renewed.
A few days ago, I had a conversation with someone about how the shuffle button on any music app can function as an oracle. Hit shuffle, and the first few songs that come up might tell a relevant story or give you information or food for thought. That’s just like when we shuffle cards for divination.
I love shuffling my tarot cards. If you know me, you know that I wear out tarot decks really quickly, because I shuffle so thoroughly. To me, the shuffle is an invitation to spirit to reset the deck the way it needs to be.
So, shuffling creates a reset, and Spring does as well. When the calendars change at the New Year, we see it as a new beginning. It is probably important to remember that the astrological calendar begins with Aries season, on the first day of Spring, and so this time of year is also associated with the energy of a new year.
Shuffling begins with order and adds randomness to create a new order. Spring exists in the order of nature, but begins in the chaos of rain and mud and new life bursting everywhere. Spring creates a new cycle of life, bringing renewal, rejuvenation, and a much-needed reset, just as a well-shuffled deck can bring the same.
May all the energy, creativity, and renewal of the season be yours!

The StaarCorner
I have two brand new StaarCon presenters to introduce to you this week! Amelia Joy and Danielle Maribell run the Sybil’s Lab of Cartomantics. They have both attended StaarCon in the past. For StaarCon 6, they return as presenters.
Each has an accomplished career and brings their professional perspective to their work with the cards. Danielle is a professor of literature. At StaarCon 6, she will present Myth-Making with Tarot. This will be an exciting archetypal journey into tarot and mythology.
Amelia teaches theater. At StaarCon 6, Amelia will present Enter Stage Left: Directing Your Story. In this session, attendees will use theatrical storytelling to explore the cards in new ways.
Tarot and creativity are connected in so many ways, and we love to explore that connection at StaarCon. Over the years, we have explored poetry, collage, music, and improv, and how those art forms can connect to tarot, divination, and spirituality. We are so excited to continue this StaarCon tradition with Amelia and Danielle! Please make your plan to join us.
Tickets to attend StaarCon 6 in person in Palm Beach Gardens are now available, along with guest rooms at the DoubleTree at a favorable rate. Get your tickets and book your rooms now! We look forward to seeing you in October.

StaarCon 6 Virtual Programming
StaarCon 6 Virtual will begin on the first day the StaarCast.com website is open to members and will run for a full year. After opening day, there will be a series of virtual-only workshops, meetings, and panels. All in-person ticket holders will have access to the virtual conference. When the in-person conference begins, StaarCast.com members can watch the live track presentations streamed from the Lular conference room.
The classroom and the mindful room will host sessions that do not fit the streaming model, but virtual conference attendees won’t be left out. Each classroom and mindful room presenter will provide alternative virtual content. Some will participate in an interview explaining the subject they will present. Others will prepare prerecorded presentations for online viewing.
StaarCon 6 Virtual presenters will schedule their content during the entire year-long virtual conference. Look for meetings, workshops, and videos prepared and presented by StaarCon member speakers.
This year, live presentations will be available on a pay-per-view basis. More information on pay-per-view virtual viewing will be available soon!

Springtime Tarot Spread
It was such an honor to teach a Spring Equinox Tarot Workshop for Nancy Hendrickson’s Substack subscribers on the vernal equinox. As part of that workshop, I created a tarot spread for Spring.
You can use any deck you like, and lay out the cards in any pattern.
Card One: What seeds do I want to plant this Spring?
Card Two: What new growth is already sprouting in my life?
Card Three: How can I tend what is growing in my life?
Card Four: What are the weeds that are growing? That is, the difficult things that are present and require potential action to remove or change.

Tarot cards with a focus on Judgement.
Tarot Wisdom For the Week
This week, I am thinking about Major Arcana 20, Judgement. Judgement is certainly a card of resurrection, and of moving on from the past.
Judgement asks us to listen to the voices of the angels, and to try to find our calling. Judgement can be the call that awakens the sleeping hero, just as Spring awakens the seeds that sleep under the snow.
Judgement can suggest the need for a reset, or can describe the process of creating a life reset.
Judgement awakens what has slumbered within us that is ready to come forward in a new and different way.
