Like many people around the world, I have spent much of the past week in a state of inspiration and awe as I followed the Artemis II mission with growing interest, anticipation, concern, and, finally, relief.
I was six years old when Apollo 11 brought people to the moon. Now I am in my sixties, watching videos of astronauts on the International Space Station communicating with astronauts on the Orion, and marveling at how far technology has advanced.
The Artemis II mission shared so many amazing moments with us. One of my favorites came from NASA flight controller Jacki Maheffey, who responded to Commander Reid Wiseman’s poetic description of his experience seeing the moon up close for the first time with, “Copy, moon joy”.
Moon joy is something we know here on Earth, too. Haven’t we all marveled at the moon at some point? Astrologers and mystical people feel a connection to the moon, even from 238,900 miles away.
The lofty goals of the Artemis program were advanced by this successful mission. I think many other inspiring thoughts, ideas, and discoveries are already emerging from Artemis II. I learned a lot about teamwork, leadership, patience, courage, and preparation from the crew in space and the crews on the ground, and how they worked together to achieve something that might have seemed impossible.
I have never wanted to go to space. I am happy to enjoy the moon and the stars from the place where gravity, oxygen, and water are plentiful. Yet I think every tarot enthusiast is, by nature, inspired by an epic journey, and every magical person is inspired by the moon.

Palm Beach Gardens is filled with restaurants for every taste and budget, many of which are within walking distance of the hotel, and most of which are a free hotel van ride away. Within the DoubleTree is a great bar and restaurant as well. You will enjoy dining with your StaarCon friends.
Our evening activities at StaarCon are always so much fun! Our Opening and Closing Ceremonies are magical, creative, and inspiring. Our Saturday evening event, the Bardic Circle, hosted by Christine Leiser, is an opportunity for you to share your stories, songs, poems, and skits. Wear your finery, or a fabulous costume, walk the red carpet, and join us for a very entertaining evening.
We are planning lunchtime crafting sessions, late-night pub games, and other things to make your conference experience exciting. We also have a swap table, so bring your unloved books, decks, and magical tools, and maybe find a treasure to take home!
If you plan to join the conference virtually, you will still be able to have some fun times together with your StaarCon friends. ‘BaarCon’ is the name of the gatherings that happen each night at virtual StaarCon. Of course, BaarCon will continue on StaarCast, our new virtual platform, so expect to spend some time in the online bar at StaarCon 6, talking, laughing, and sharing readings.

About the Workshop

Tarot For Inspiration on the Journey
Whether young or old, on our way to the moon or on our way to the grocery store, life is always a journey. It can often be a scary and confusing journey. Tarot is here to help.
Whether you pull cards for yourself daily, weekly, or when you feel the need, it is always good to approach them as sources of information and inspiration for your journey.
You can ask for inspiration and pull a card. Or, you can ask things like, ‘Where is this taking me?’ and, ‘How will this action affect my journey?’, and ‘What is the nature of my journey?’ or, ‘What should be the focus of my journey right now?’

The Week in Review
I had the opportunity to return to the podcast, Confessions of a Tarot Reader with Bex recently. This time, Marion Kirk and I were both guests, and our discussion included tarot conferences, mentorship, and the special friendships that develop between mystical folk.

Tarot Wisdom For the Week
There is a Moon card in both tarot and Lenormand, though their meanings are a bit different. In the Lenormand Moon, there can be a focus on nighttime events, including romance, creativity, and professional success (think plays, concerts, etc.).
The Lenormand Moon, however, does enter the territory of the tarot Moon in one certain way. In both tarot and Lenormand, the Moon can represent deep emotions and intuition.
In tarot, the Moon can indicate confusion. This is appropriate, since the Moon, Major Arcana 18, is a very confusing card to interpret. Your feelings about this card may be influenced by your age, your culture of origin, and the tarot books you have read.
In tarot, the Moon reminds us that nothing is clear in the light of the moon. Everything looks different in moonlight than it does in daylight. There may be hidden enemies. It may be hard to know what to trust.
The tarot Moon clearly offers us a path to spiritual enlightenment, magic, and intuition. Yet, the path itself is anything but clear. The Moon teaches us an important fact.
On the path to spiritual truth, there are many dangers. There are those who would use your faith for their profit. There are those who would teach you spiritual bypassing rather than spiritual growth. There are belief systems that excuse you from the burden of compassion.
The Moon asks us to choose our steps carefully as we seek our enlightenment and discover our spiritual truths.
