Intentional Energy

The word "energy" means many things. One modern use describes how we move through the world and interact with others. Whether you're an introvert or extrovert, for instance, is really a description of your social energy. We talk about someone's "vibe," saying things like "I really like her energy" or "he has the same energy as someone I know."
We also think of energy as life force, the spiritual current we raise for healing or to tap into intuition. I suspect these two meanings aren't as separate as they seem: when we sense someone's vibe, we may actually be sensing that deeper life-force energy running through them.
The energy we give off is often just a byproduct of whatever we're experiencing. Upset, and we may give off an angry energy. Sad, and it shows in how we move through the day.
But what if, instead of letting our energy be a passive reflection of our mood, we chose it on purpose?
What if we stayed present, compassionate, open, and friendly even when we felt like hiding, yelling, or crying? We still need to honor and process our emotions, but not necessarily in front of the general public.
Each day is a chance to be intentional about the energy we generate and share. Do it thoughtfully, and your mood improves, your relationships deepen, and your well-being follows.

The StaarCorner
Last week, we explored the variety of opportunities that will be available at StaarCon 6 to learn about tarot. This week, let's look at the offerings at StaarCon 6 that are not tarot-specific.
For example, our Saturday headliner, Pamela Chen, will be teaching us about the Akashic Records. We are so excited to learn about this fascinating topic!
On Friday, Alyassia Taylor will lead a session about Human Design. In the Mindful Room on Friday, you can experience a Reiki share with Teri Rosario and learn about mediumship with Michele Leonello.
Our first session of the conference, Friday morning in the Mindful Room, will be a sound bath. We are excited that Kimberly Scheurer, the Medium that Rocks, will be offering two Spirit Circles (think modern-day seances), one on Friday and one on Sunday. On Saturday, Mercedes Vasquez will lead a Spirit Message circle, bringing our total of mediumship sessions at StaarCon 6 to four.
Also on Saturday, learn about numerology with Mitchell Osborn. Both Karen Winkel and Tikashi Denour Lacoste will be sharing presentations about astrology. On Sunday, learn palmistry with Kooch Daniels, Lenormand with Michelle Barrie, and discover Strega (Italian witchery) with Teri Salomoni.
Aerik Arkadian and Peter Coe will both teach sessions on runic divination. Joseph Farrar will teach us how to use the Tree of Life for energy healing.

Virtual Presenter Spotlight: Teri Rosario
A Reiki Master's 26-Year Journey, From a Street Fair to StaarCon 6
Today we're turning the spotlight on a first-time StaarCon presenter: Teri Rosario. Teri comes to StaarCon 6 as a Reiki Master Teacher with 26 years of experience. She'll be leading a live Reiki Share in the Mindful Room in Palm Beach Gardens, and for those of you joining us virtually, StaarCast will bring you right into the conversation.
What is she bringing to StaarCon 6 Virtual?
The Mindful Room isn't part of our livestreamed Live Track, so StaarCon 6 Virtual attendees won't be in the room for Teri's Reiki Share on Friday, October 2nd. Instead, at that same time, StaarCast will release a recorded conversation between Teri and Christiana Gaudet that goes deep into what Reiki actually is and how Teri came to practice it. It's your alternative to the unstreamed, in-person session.
The conversation opens with the basics: Reiki as universal life-force energy, channeled rather than directed, with the practitioner serving as a conduit rather than a healer imposing an outcome. From there, Teri and Christiana trace the history of the practice, from Dr. Mikao Usui's healing center in early 19th-century Japan through Dr. Hayashi and Madame Takata, who carried Reiki to Hawaii and the United States and trained the first generation of Reiki masters.
The conversation then turns to some genuinely thoughtful debates that will sound familiar to any tarot reader. Should Reiki's sacred symbols be closely guarded, the way Teri's own master teacher required, or published for anyone to learn, as some authors have done? Is it appropriate to add your own spin and brand a personalized style of Reiki? Should Reiki have a place in hospitals despite the absence of scientific proof that it works? And can Reiki attunements happen at a distance, the way Teri already practices distance healing? It's a rich, unhurried conversation, and it's the next best thing to being in the room.
A journey that began at a street fair
Teri's path to Reiki started almost by accident. In 1998, she was wandering a street fair in Yellow Springs, Ohio (a self-described hippie town and home to Antioch College) when she stepped into a shop called Angelic Divas and stumbled on a Reiki demonstration. She had never heard the word before, but the calm she saw on people's faces pulled her in. She said yes to a demo, and the profound relaxation she felt convinced her she needed to know more.
That fall she began Reiki 1, followed later the same year by Reiki 2, both taught by shop owner Terry Benning Coleman. Applied Reiki came the following spring, and by the start of 2000 Teri had enrolled in her Reiki Master Teacher training. She graduated on July 6th of that year, marking 26 years of practice as of this summer.

The Energy of a Card
Each tarot card can express multiple energies. Using tarot magic, you can activate a card to deliver the precise energy you need, as long as you know which card most easily carries that energy. For example, you could use the Ace of Pentacles to help you stick to a diet or to help you get a new job.
In divination, sometimes, rather than thinking about keywords, we feel the energy of the card, and that gives us the information we need. Very often, we might interpret a spread of cards as feeling chaotic, hopeful, or confusing. This helps us understand the energy we are seeing in our clients' lives.
