Tarot Readers Donate 600 Pounds of Food to the Hungry
---West Palm Beach
Forget what you may have heard about fraudulent psychics. Yes, there are those who take advantage of people’s pain and gullibility for profit. Often you find them behind neon-lit storefronts, waiting for their prey.
Christiana’s Annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 18 in West Palm Beach, attracted a different sort of metaphysical practitioner.
From noon to well past the official closing time of 5 pm, more than twenty psychics, diviners, card readers, astrologers and healers donated their time and skill to offer readings and healing sessions to the public in exchange for donations of nonperishable food items.
The yearly event is the brainchild of Certified Tarot Grandmaster Christiana Gaudet, who has been holding similar holiday events for sixteen years. Gaudet’s office in the Harvey Building in downtown West Palm Beach has served as the location for the Open House since her arrival in 2008.
Prior to that, Gaudet held holiday events in Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
There are many goals of this unique event, Gaudet explains. “The first goal, of course, is to generate food for the hungry. But it is also a time for metaphysical practitioners to give back to the community that supports us throughout the year, and to provide a training ground for new talent.”
Gaudet admits that, in a world where psychics are sometimes viewed with misunderstanding and suspicion, a charity event is good public relations. “An event like this draws a line in the sand between those of us who work to help others and those who take advantage of others.”
On Monday morning, Gaudet brought 594 pounds of food, along with some cash and toys, to the Feeding South Florida warehouse in West Palm Beach. “I was a little tearful when they told me it was enough food to provide meals for 396 hungry people. The generosity of our community is just amazing.”
Gaudet is the founder of Tarot Circle Meetup of the Palm Beaches, and the author of the book “Fortune Stellar,” from Jupiter Gardens Press. Her website is http://tarotbychristiana.com.
