What Feeds You?
At Thanksgiving we give thanks for what feeds our bodies. It is also a time to discover what feeds us at a soul level.
In the United States, tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. Traditionally, this is a time for friends and family to enjoy a meal together and contemplate their gratitude for food, shelter, and one another.
Thanksgiving is also considered the beginning of what I like to call the ‘Winter Festival Season’. Whatever you celebrate, and whatever your feelings about this time of year, I wish you the happiest, merriest, and most blessed holiday season. I want to you to know one of the things I am most grateful for is you. That is, those of you who read my newsletters, join me on YouTube, have sessions with me, attend StaarCon, read my books, and support my work in whichever ways make sense to you. Without you, I could not do the work I love so much.
When I think about Thanksgiving, I think first about the traditional foods, and our enjoyment of them. Yet, since Thanksgiving is about so much more than food, my contemplation turns to the things that feed us mentally, creatively, and spiritually.
I am grateful that the work I do feeds me so well. Tarot stimulates my creativity, my spirituality, my intellect, and my social needs. I know that not everyone is lucky enough to have a career that engages them on so many levels.
Our jobs do not have to be what feeds the soul as long as they put food on the table. We may have hobbies, fellowships, studies, or other pursuits that feed us more deeply.
One thing I notice at the tarot table is that some people have yet to figure out what feeds them beyond their physical needs. They do not know what sings to their soul or warms their heart.
On this Thanksgiving, give thanks for what feeds your mind and your spirit. If you don’t know what that is, commit to that search. The journey will be as delightful as the discovery.

Finding What Feeds Your Soul
Tarot can be a great tool to help you discover your passions, your talents, and the things that make you happy. You can ask questions of tarot or have a professional reading on this topic.
Here are some questions to your cards, or to ask a reader.
What would make me happy at this moment?
What is a talent I have yet to discover?
What is something I enjoyed as a child that I need to revisit?
How can I find a sense of spiritual joy?
How can I make new friends?
How can I explore my creativity?

When we speak of finding what feeds our soul, we may be looking for our passion in life. Emerald Lotus has a lovely tarot spread for Discovering Your Passion.
Mindbodygreen.com has share 99 Deep Questions to Ask a Tarot Deck During Your Next Reading. These questions are great for learning more about tarot, and about yourself.
Guidance on the Journey
There are so many cards that invite and instruct us to find our passions, consider our desires, and engage our creative energy.
The Nine of Cups is the traditional ‘Wish Card’. This card can ask you what your wishes are and can remind you that your desires are important.
Many readers also see the Star as a card of wishes and wishes fulfilled.
The Two of Wands and the Seven of Cups can both be viewed as cards that ask us what we want to manifest in our lives.
The Ace of Wands seeks to ignite our passions and encourages us to start new projects.
There are also cards that point out that we have not found what we are seeking. For example, the Four of Cups may suggest that we seek out something more engaging, and more exciting, than what we have so far discovered. The Eight of Cups suggests that it may be time to walk away from the past, and journey toward something new.
Judgement, of course, suggests closure to the past, and being open to a reawakening.
The theme of discovery, and the search for soul satisfaction, is inherent in the stories told by tarot, and in the messages of many cards. Perhaps this is because we are all driven to find the things that feed the soul.

Always a Journey
This week I share some thoughts as I travel throughout the Northeast on Tarot Tour. Life is always a journeys and never a destination.
We use the word ‘journey’ to talk about travel. We also use this word to discuss a metaphoric journey, such as our educational journey or our journey with an illness.
Poets, philosophers, and songwriters have written about life as a journey.
I think this is a good way to think about life. Rather than cataloging our mistakes and heartbreaks, we can see each difficulty and each joy as an important part of our journey.
Ralph Waldo Emerson is credited with the well-known expression, “life is a journey, not a destination”. While setting goals is good, the only goal we are sure we will meet is to be present on the journey.
When we remember that life is always a journey, we remember that travel is sometimes arduous, sometimes smooth, sometimes fun, and sometimes educational. We can be prepared for whatever we might encounter on the road ahead.
See Me in the Tampa Bay Area
I will be in the Tampa Bay Area June 23 through June 27. During that time, I am available for house calls, psychic house parties, and private sessions by appointment at my AirBnB in Wesley Chapel.
We will have a tarot meetup at Panera Bread in Lutz at 3 pm on Sunday, June 26. I hope you will plan to join us if you are in the area!

The Fool’s Journey is Your Journey
When we learn tarot, we often speak of the cards as “The Fool’s Journey”. This term was coined by Eden Gray in the late 1960s. The concept that the Fool is the star of the story told by tarot, and the other seventy-seven cards represent the experiences and lessons along the Fool’s Path is now considered a primary way of understanding tarot.
We can learn a lot about our own journeys in life by studying the Fool’s journey.
Sometimes divination and study can go hand in hand.
Shuffle your tarot deck. Ask for a card that helps you understand something about your journey in life. Pull one card at random. Think about what the Fool learns from that card. Then consider how that card makes sense on your own journey.

What the Court Cards Want You to Know
On Wednesday, June 29, 7 pm to 9 pm, join us for a hybrid tarot class about the tarot Court cards. You can attend in Person in Palm City or online on Zoom.
The sixteen Court cards, typically called Pages, Knights, Queens and Kings, can be some of the most confusing cards in the tarot deck.
This is because these cards are very versatile. They can reference the people around you. They can also reference parts of yourself. They can behave like any other tarot card and offer advice, comment, and prediction.
In this two-hour class you will learn easy ways to understand and work with these sixteen cards.
You can join us in person or online. Every student will receive access to a recording of the class. Visit EventBrite to purchase your ticket.
The class will be available at cardandcraftacademy.com after July 8th.
Guidance on the Journey
Can tarot cards that traditionally reference travel also be interpreted to represent the journey through life, or any metaphoric journey? I would say yes, though some more than others.
For me, the Chariot is a card that often indicates travel. All four Knights can speak of travel as well. The World can speak of international travel.
Traditionally, some people see the Six of Swords as travel, as well as the Eight of Cups. I am less likely to interpret those cards as a literal trip.
The card that most often will speak to me of the journey of life, or a metaphoric journey, is the Fool.
Which cards often speak to you of travel? Which cards indicate a need to view life as a journey, or to focus on a metaphoric journey? How much overlap exists for you between these groups of cards?
When it comes to how the cards speak to each of us, we all have our own personal relationship with each card. Yet, we will all have cards in our personal tarot vocabulary that reference each aspect of life. Literal travel and metaphoric journeys are often themes in tarot readings, even if the cards that express these things may differ from reader to reader.
When we discuss literal travel in a reading, we might be predicting a vacation, or a business trip. When we discuss a metaphoric journey we may be using the cards to help frame a chapter in life in order to find ways to cope, or ways to make the most of a specific undertaking.

Psychic Distancing
Now is the best time to work on your own psychic development.
During difficult times, do you notice that you feel more tired, more stressed and more irritable? Of course, some of that is simply the effect of the difficulty you are facing. But, in a time of widespread crisis, some of what you are feeling is the distress of others.
Most of us have some level of psychic ability. Some of us identify as empaths. That is, those who easily feel what others are feeling. If are psychic or empathic at all, it’s likely that you are dealing with more than your own stress. Right now, you might literally be carrying the weight of the world.
Even in normal times, you might feel the pain and heartache of others, both physically and emotionally. You might not even recognize that what you are feeling is not your own.
Those who perform readings for others are especially at risk for this. Some readers become physically ill after an especially powerful reading. Often, this is because they are so strongly feeling what their client is feeling.
Whether you are a reader, a healer, or just a sensitive spiritual person, there has never been a better time to improve your ‘psychic distancing’ techniques. You don’t want to limit your intuition. Yet, for the sake of your own wellbeing, you need to be able to limit what you experience.
Meditation is the quickest and easiest way to do this. You need to send energy to your root chakra at the base of your spine, and then send energy into the earth, to ground yourself. From there, breathe energy up your spine and out of your crown chakra in all directions. Let that energy fall to the ground and create a protective shield around you. Let it sink into the ground and cycle up again, constantly refreshing you, connecting you to the earth, and protecting you.
Unlike many meditative exercises, you can do this one in less than three minutes. Or, you can take your time and stop at each chakra, spending a few moments clearing and releasing energy in each energy center.
On a more intellectual level, try this. When you feel anxious, or when the energy around you feels heavy, take a step back. Is what you are feeling really coming from you, or is it coming from outside you? Remember that just because you can feel something, or know something, doesn’t make you able or responsible to fix it. Simply exhale, and release the energy, and return your attend to your own affairs. You can send a quick prayer or affirmation if you like.
This next thing may sound counterintuitive, but it’s the truth. The best way to relieve yourself of empathic pain is to run toward your psychic gifts, rather than away from them. Some people try to shut their intuition down. This usually causes more pain, not less.
The more psychic development your do, the more psychic tools you learn to use, the more control you will have of your energy. The more developed your gifts are, the more ability you will have to deal with the energies around you.
That means that now is a great time to learn tarot, work with oracle cards, and study psychic development!
The StaarCorner
One of the things that excites me the most about StaarCon is the broad range of topics we will be covering. We will have plenty of tarot classes for tarotists of all levels of expertise. We will also have classes in other methods of cartomancy, including Kipper, Lenormand, and oracle cards. We will explore other aspects of magic and mysticism from many cultures.
Whatever your areas of interest are, we will have classes and workshops to inspire you.
During these difficult times, it’s important to have something to look forward to. Plan to attend StaarCon in January 2021! Tickets, with early bird pricing, go on sale today!
A Tarot Spread for Empaths
One question we might often ask is this. Is the discomfort I am feeling mine, or am I picking it up from someone else?
Here’s a tarot spread to help with that. Arrange the cards any way that feels right.
Card One
Let this card describe or explain what you are feeling.
Card Two
Let this card tell you where this feeling is coming from.
Card Three
Let this card reflect your energy, without this thing you are feeling.
Card Four
Let this card tell you what you can do to release this feeling.
Card Five
Let this card tell you what, if anything, you need to do in response to this feeling.
Zoom Classes Live and on Teachable
Our first class on Zoom, Finding Meaning in the Minor Arcana, went so well that I have scheduled another Zoom class in April! Of course, all premium classes that were scheduled to be held in my Palm City office are moved to Zoom until we are able to meet in person again. Then, I will continue holding classes on Zoom as well as in person in Palm City.
Those who missed the class and would like to purchase the replay will be able to do so at Card and Craft Academy on Teachable. Those who took the live class will be granted access to the replay at no additional charge.
I was so pleased with how easy Zoom was to work, and how much it felt like an in-person class. It was great to be able to include people from all over the world.
The class I’ve added to the calendar will take place on Thursday, April 23, at 7 pm EDT. It’s called “The Major Arcana, Magical and Mundane.”
The twenty-two cards of the Major Arcana are considered to hold the “Greater Secrets” of tarot. In this class you will learn their spiritual lessons as well as the information they may reveal in a reading. You will also learn which Major Arcana cards to use to manifest your desires.
The Major Arcana cards are here to assist in our spiritual growth and our divination. They can also be powerful tools in creating our future.
Register now for this exciting live class. Class fee is $37.50.

Cards for Your Consideration
We can consider the Eight of Cups as a card of social distancing in general. The Eight of Cups can often speak of feeling of abandonment. Yet, it also speaks of the need to walk away from something, or the process of distancing yourself from something.
This works on a psychic level, too. As much as something might knock on the door of our brain, the Eight of Cups gives us the power to turn our back to it and walk toward something else.

The Power of Self-Care
Make your own self-care a priority, and join the free Card Reading Magic telesummit!
In medicine, self-care is the regimen a patient must follow on their own.
In personal healing, self-care includes anything you do with the intention of taking care of your well-being, whether body, mind or spirit.
Sometimes I find that my need to take care of my body feels at odds with a perceived need to take care of my spirit with chocolate cake!
In many cultures, and especially here in the United States, people seem to take pride in denying themselves care. Perhaps we feel we appear stronger if we do not admit to needing care.
Often, we pack our lives with so many commitments that we can’t seem to find the resources to focus on our own self-care.
In reality, self-care is good time management. The better we feel, the more efficiently we use our time.
Taking time for self-care is also an enforced break from our routine. That, in itself, has value.
There are many possible self-care activities. Exercise, massage, cooking, yoga, tarot, gardening, meditation, journaling, dancing, socializing, spa treatment, ceremony and playing music could all be considered self-care. As you can see, some activities take time and money, others can easily be incorporated in to daily life.
Whatever you invest in your own self-care will be returned to you many times over.
Body, Mind and Spirit Self-Care Spread
Here’s an easy three-card spread designed to help you understand your self-care needs and habits.
Simply pull one card for Body, one for Mind and one for Spirit.
Interpret the card in each position in context of your need for self-care in that area.
Perhaps a card might indicate a self-care activity that would be helpful. Perhaps a card my reveal a particular resistance to self-care. Maybe a card would congratulate you on your approach to self-care in that area.
Perform this spread on a regular basis as a way of making sure you are showing up for yourself.

The Four of Pentacles Urges Self-Care
Many people see the Four of Pentacles as selfishness. Eden Gray called this the “Card of the Miser”.
Modern tarotists often see the Four of Pentacles as depicting a “lack mentality”.
All of these can be appropriate interpretations of the Four of Pentacles.
At the same time, there is another interpretation that works for this card, and can sometimes shed new light into a reading.
Sometimes, we can interpret the Four of Pentacles as advice for self-full-ness, rather than a warning against selfishness.
The Four of Pentacles can advise us to hold better boundaries, or to make our own needs a priority.
Sometimes, we feel selfish when we are really being appropriately self-full. The Four of Pentacles asks us to contemplate this balance in our lives.
