Hear Your Inner Voice
We all have an inner voice that guides us, but sometimes it’s hard to hear. This week, Tarot Topics helps you tune in to your inner wisdom.
Intuition is the inner voice, the “little voice”, and the “gut reaction”. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between that inner voice which speaks needed truth, and the other “voices” vying for attention. Those other voices often have names such as “fear”, “anxiety” and “desire”.
How do you hear your truth? What does the truth feel like when you hear it?
Three Ways to Hear Your Inner Voice in Tarot
Tarot reading is both intuitive and interpretive. If you’ve been studying your card meanings, but want to access the true psychic nature of the divinatory process, try these three techniques to increase your ability to hear your inner voice during a reading.
1. Perform your reading in sacred space. This includes using meditation and energy work to attune yourself to your higher wisdom, and welcome in the support of Spirit. Pay special attention to your breathing. Just as in yoga and exercise, breathing is very important in intuitive work.
2. Pay attention to your senses. As you are performing the reading, what are you sensing? Do you hear something, or see something out of the corner of your eye? Does a memory from your own life pop in, and seem pertinent?
We experience intuition with our whole bodies, so pay attention to what you feel in your whole body during a reading.
3. Let the cards talk to you. What do the cards say to you? What do you see in the pictures? How do they make you feel? Are there particular images that stick out as especially significant? Go beyond your memorized interpretations, and let the cards speak.
The Week in Review
This week, on my personal blog, I shared “An Open Letter to Spiritual Seekers: Disillusion is Part of the Path.”
You may have heard that we got a lot of rain here in Tampa this week. On my Dark Forest blog, I shared a video of a frog singing in the rain. It took me a while to find the source of the loud chirping, but when I did, I fell in love with this cute little guy. You will too!
From Around the Web
For your listening pleasure, here’s an archive of a podcast from the Audacious Eleven, featuring my friend Robin Renee. The topic is “I Need a Good Psychic!”
Here’s an interesting article on what it means to “hold space” for people, from Heather Plett.
Angelo Nasios, of That’s Totally Tarot, is in school. He wrote a paper on tarot history for a class. You can read it on his blog.
Two Tarot Cards for the Inner Voice
If you want to be more intuitive, get a tarot deck and learn how to use it! The process of working with the images of tarot will absolutely increase your intuition, and your ability to distinguish truth.
There are a few cards that specifically speak of intuition. When these cards appear, you may be directed to pay more attention to your own truth, and to deeply listen to your own intuition.
Two cards of intuition are the High Priestess and the Moon. They are both Major Arcana cards, and both related to the element of Water.
The High Priestess instructs us to journey into the realm of the subconscious, and discover what lies there. What are the secrets you keep, even from yourself? How can you bring those things to light?
Spend some time in meditation with the High Priestess, and you may find you deep, internal truth.
The Moon speaks of the spiritual questions that we all share, and the answers we all seek. These are not as much personal truths as they are Universal truths.
Each of these cards can have mundane meanings and predictive interpretations. However, each of these cards also carries a separate special message.
That message is an invitation to hear your inner voice.

Card Fourteen: Fox
Card Fourteen, Fox, is sometimes considered a negative card. This card can be a warning against deception and deceit. When the Fox is present, there may be lies, or even illegal activities.
Sometimes, though, a strategic approach is necessary. Sometimes the Fox can discuss the difficult things we must negotiate to take care of ourselves and our family. In this way, the Fox can refer to hard work, and a cunning nature.
The Fox is related to the Nine of Clubs. This can indicate a possible promotion, a sense of fate pushing you forward, or an indication of a distance to be traveled.
Next week, we will explore Card Fifteen, Bear.

Once in a Blue Moon
July 31st is a rare blue moon. Tarot Topics will help you harness it’s power!
This Friday, July 31, we will experience a rare blue moon. That is, a second full moon in a single month. This is a special time of power.
This week, think about the wonderful things you rarely do, and celebrate the blue moon by doing something unusual, unique or rare in your own life.
Is there something you have been wanting to do, but haven’t found the motivation to do it? The blue moon asks the question, “If not now, when?”
This week, let the powerful energy of the blue moon bring rare opportunities and motivation to you!
The Power of Dreams
Often special events in the night sky can lead to special dreams. This week, pay attention to your dreams, and to your intuitive thoughts.
Even if your dreams and visions don’t make sense, take the time to write them down. As you contemplate the symbols you receive, you may be able to make some sense of them.
You can also use this time of power to ask for a special dream, perhaps a dream that gives you a solution or some insight. Simply set your intention before going to sleep, and make sure to write down every detail you remember in the morning.
Take advantage of the blue moon and receive some helpful guidance in your dreams!
The Week in Review

So many folks have been sharing information about Frida’s blue moon!
Here’s the Shamanic Astrology perspective on the upcoming blue moon.
Elephant Journal shared two articles about this sacred event. This, from Alex Myles, and this, from Kate Rose.
The Power of Being Unique
In a world where there is a lot of pressure to conform, it can be difficult to be a person who does unusual things.
It’s important for us to find the power in our unique qualities. Tarot can help us do that.
Try shuffling your deck and asking this question.
What is something special and unique about me?
Pull a card, and interpret it to help you understand a part of yourself that is unique, and powerful.
What’s up at the Psychic Café?
You can now see my interview with Michael Bridge-Dickson on YouTube. We had a wonderful conversation about his new tarot deck, now in funding.
Orbifold Tarot is unique in many ways. Working simply with colors, shapes, numbers and elements, this new deck is surprisingly expressive and versatile.
You’ll be amazed at the things you learn about tarot, the Universe and everything from Michael Bridge-Dickson.

Card Thirteen: Child
Card Thirteen, Child, can refer to an actual child. Related to the playing card Jack of Hearts, this card can often refer to a person who is close to the querent’s heart.
Sometimes the Lenormand Child can refer to something new, or to a youthful attitude. Typically, this is considered a positive card. Whether referring to a young person, a situation or an attitude, the mood is light-hearted, playful and full of wonder.
Next week we will explore Card Fourteen, Fox.

Ready?
Get ready to make positive change in your life! This week you can take a free tarot webinar, attend a tarot meetup in Lutz and a library presentation about tarot in Riverview.
Most of us are a on a quest for improvement. We want to get fit, quit bad habits, make more money, have more fun and find more serenity. We want these things for ourselves, and for the people we love. We become frustrated when the people we love aren’t willing to make the changes they need to be better. Sometimes, we become frustrated with ourselves for the same reason.
Improvement requires change. Each change requires readiness. After we make the change, we often look back with regret. Why did I wait until I was fifty to join the gym and get in shape? Why didn’t I finished school when I was younger? It seems so easy now.
The reason it seems easy now is that we are ready. When we want something, we need to take time to get ready to make it happen. The people we care about won’t make changes until they are ready, either.
We have to accept each other, and ourselves, where we are right now. With others, sometimes that acceptance needs to be at a distance. With ourselves, we have the opportunity to let go of frustration, and turn that energy toward getting ready to grow!
Tarot Stories for Small Steps
Sometimes the key to getting ready for major change is to plan and execute your change in very small steps. If we focus on one thing at a time, we can accomplish something major in the end.
The enormity of the task in front of us may feel daunting. By separating our large goal into a series of small steps, we are more able to take it on with confidence.
The structure of tarot gives us insight into this. When we look at sections of the deck in numerical order, we learn a great deal about the process of change and growth.
Try looking at these tarot progressions. Look at each card in the sequence, in order. Think about the stories they tell. Do these stories reflect events in your life? How could these stories help you prepare for your next big change?
Notice that two Minor Arcana suits start with the Ten and progress to the Ace.
Magician through Chariot
Strength through Temperance
Devil through World
Ace of Pentacles through Ten of Pentacles
Ace of Cups through Ten of Cups
Ten of Swords through Ace of Swords
Ten of Wands through Ace of Wands

Wandering Oracle shared a very detailed Summer Solstice reading.
Here’s an oldie-but-goodie from Wild Women of the Universe, a Summer Solstice tarot spread from 2010. Although Summer Solstice 2015 was this past weekend, this is still a great spread to try this week!
In keeping with this week’s theme, here are “Fifteen Easy Ways to be Healthier” from Gaiam Life.
Get Ready with Tarot
It is interesting to ask tarot specific questions about levels of readiness. When you are hoping to motivate yourself to make an important change, shuffle your cards and ask a question like this.
“What is my readiness to look for a new job?”
Simply pull a card, and interpret it in context of the question.
If the card indicates a lack of readiness, or if you don’t feel ready, ask a question like this.
“What do I need to do to become ready?”
Pull a series of three cards to give insight and ideas to help you get ready!
What’s up at the Psychic Café?
You can view my interview with Hal Weeks on my YouTube channel. I am excited to share Wickwillow Tarot with you. Hal has some great ideas about art, images and symbols, and the way they work together to give us meaning.

Card Eight: The Grave
Card Eight, The Grave (or “Coffin” in some decks) is a card of endings and transformation. While it does not always refer to a physical death, most readers consider this card a negative one.
Card Eight can indicate the need for a rest, or the need for a change. It can also indicate the natural end of a cycle.
The playing card association for this card is the Nine of Diamonds. Traditionally, this would indicate an opportunity for financial gain. In context with this card, the financial gain may come from a change of job, a lawsuit or an inheritance.
Next week we will learn about a happy card, card Nine, Boquet.

Let it Shine!
Read Tarot Topics, my weekly newsletter, to learn about upcoming events, find your one-card weekly reading and try a new tarot spread. This week, find your inner light, and let it shine!
When I was young, we used to sing a song in Sunday School. “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” Years later, the lyrics from my favorite songs on the radio sent me a similar message.
It’s important to find your inner light and let it shine. That might mean developing your talents, setting goals, promoting your business or simply living the life that is right for you.
Don’t let doubt, uncertainty or difficult people cause you to hide your gifts.
This week, make a commitment to let your inner light shine!
Shiny Tarot Cards!
We find the message of shining your light in many tarot cards. Often a tarot reading helps us discover and develop our talents and passions; those things that make us shine.
Part of learning to shine is developing confidence, and a sense of comfort in ones’ own identity. Tarot reading can help with that, too.
Here are just a few of the tarot cards that encourage you to let your light shine!
The Sun – Be as bright as you can be, without fear.
The Hermit – Find the light of wisdom within yourself, and then let it shine for others.
The Three of Pentacles – Do your work with skill and mastery, and you will receive recognition and acknowledgement.
The Six of Wands – know that you can and will be victorious!

Card 6: Clouds
Card 6, Clouds, refers to confusion, uncertainty, bad weather, and sadness. While is this considered a negative card, we recognize that clouds pass quickly. Often clarity will replace confusion as quickly as the wind blows!
When the Clouds card appears, look to surrounding cards and recognize there may be an element of uncertainty or instability in the areas of life those cards depict.
The Clouds is associated with the King of Clubs. As such, this card can indicate the presence of a gentleman who may be dark-haired, protective and intelligent.
Next week we will explore Card 7, Snake.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading
Your One-Card reading this week is the Hanged Man.
You may find that you are in a time of waiting, or that you can’t take a particular action until the time is right.
The Hanged Man reminds you that, even if you are impatient, or uncomfortable with your surroundings, everything is exactly as it needs to be.
During this time of waiting and discomfort, you have the opportunity to find enlightenment because of your suffering, rather than in spite of your suffering. Use this time to your advantage!
This time of waiting will naturally end before too long. Since there is nothing you can do to change the situation, let go of your desire to control it, and take advantage of the opportunity for new perspective and enlightenment.
