What Can We Create?

Creativity and spirituality are closely aligned.

AdobeStock_344624269-2500x1778.jpg

I firmly believe that we are all creative people. We may not all have specific talents; not everyone can draw or play an instrument. Yet, creativity is part of our human nature.

We even refer to our concept of Higher Power as “Creator”, and our universe as “creation”. Indeed, creativity is all around us, and part of who we are.

Our creativity may in in the way we solve problems, or the way we perceive things. Our creativity may simply be in the way we enjoy the passage of time.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation where we can collaborate with others, either in a professional capacity or for our own enjoyment. A good collaboration brings out the best from all its participants, and often creates a product that no individual could have done alone.

If you believe you are not a creative person, think again. You are. You just need to figure out the way in which you are creative.

It’s important to make time for creative thought and creative projects. Creativity needs to be a priority in some way for all of us.

Technology allows us to produce things we would not have been able to do in years past and allows us to collaborate with people who are far away.

There is a deep connection between creativity and spirituality. Both are ruled by the element of Fire. Both rely on inspiration. Both help us be the best and most we can be.

When we create with others, we connect with them in a special way. When we create, we connect with our Higher Self, and our Higher Power.

Understanding our creativity helps us to understand our potential. To visualize something is to help bring it in to being. I like to think that we are co-creators, along with Higher Power, of our lives, and our future. I believe this is true individually, and as a planet.

What can we create for ourselves?

What can we create in our communities?

What can we create for our planet?

Our creativity is the power that moves us into a hopeful future.

Join us for a Tarot Class on Zoom

Tarot is a book of spiritual wisdom in picture form. With it, we are able to learn about ourselves, communicate with others and understand our world.

The sixteen Court cards of the tarot, that is, the Kings, Queens, Knights, Pages, are some of the most versatile cards in the deck. The Court cards can help us understand ourselves, our talents, our fears, and our motivations. The Court cards can also represent the people around us and help us understand our relationships with them.

On Thursday, November 19, from 7 pm to 9 pm EST, I will be teaching about the Court cards in a class called “Your Journey Through the Tarot Court”.

In this class you will learn a variety of ways to interpret the tarot Court cards when they appear in a reading and find all the possible messages within them.

This class is appropriate for tarot students at all levels of experience and knowledge.

Class fee is $37.50. Register now on Zoom.

Tarot for Creativity

When you are working on a creative project tarot can be a great tool to assist you. You can pull tarot cards at random to give you ideas. If you are writing a story, for example, you can use the cards to help with character and plot development.

If you are not sure about where your creativity lies or how to develop it, you can pull cards to help find your direction.

If you are feeling blocked, you can ask the cards for tricks to help you find your creative flow.

If you are involved in a collaboration, you can use the cards to help you understand the group dynamics, and the best ways to communicate with one another.

Tarot itself is a creative endeavor in every aspect. It takes creativity to make a tarot deck. It takes creativity to develop a tarot practice. For this reason, tarot is the perfect tool to assist in in your creative development.

Here’s an amatuer creative collaboration done from afar with my song sisters. We call ourselves “The Three of Cups”.

Cards for Your Consideration

A clue that creativity is vital to our existence is that so many cards in the tarot deck can reference it. All of the Fire cards, which includes the suit of Wands and more than a quarter of the Major Arcana cards, could be considered a reference to creativity on some level.

Beyond that, the number Three is, at its essence, a reference to creativity. Thus, all Three cards can in some way make us think about creativity.

Let’s specifically consider the Three of Pentacles. While we know that this is a card of work, employment, recognition, and mastery, we can also see within in some creativity. We can even see creative collaboration.

Sometimes this card will come up to discuss creative solutions. It might ask the question; what can we do to make this work? Sometimes the Three of Pentacles might say that our creative efforts will be appreciated by others.

We often think of creativity only in terms of the element of Fire. Yet even the earthy Three of Pentacles holds within it some evidence of creativity. Many of us enjoy jobs where we can use our creativity. The Three of Pentacles may speak of such a job.

Make It Happen!

Tarot Topics wants you to make it happen! Learn ways to use tarot, meditation and visualization to create the life you want!

Make It Happen!

Anyone who has ever turned a dream into a reality will tell you it takes inspiration, hard work, tenacity and confidence. Most people have hopes and dreams. Some people have a hard time turning a dream into a logical goal.

Once we have a clear goal, we need vision for the future. Many people rely on their spirituality to help them envision and manifest their future. Whether through prayer, meditation, affirmation or visualization, we all have spiritual tools that we can use to make real things happen.

Three Spiritual Ways to Make It Happen

We all know the power of prayer. Here are three more things you can do to focus your energy and manifest your goals.

1.    Write it down. Whether you use a quill and parchment or your smartphone, setting your intentions in written word is a powerful way to make them a reality.

2.    Burn a candle. Quiet your mind and focus on the candle. As the flame rises, visualize your dream becoming a reality.

3.    Say an affirmation. Whether you simply affirm your goal as a current reality, such as “I now have a successful business” or affirm your ability to be successful, your positive affirmation helps to create your reality.

The Week in Review

This week, in honor of Mother’s Day, I designed a four-card tarot spread called “Roots and Wings.” You can watch a video of me performing the spread, read about it and perform it yourself, on my personal blog.

On our Community Blog, Linda Moore shared a wise piece about meditation, yoga and the Seven of Swords. Read “Consider Meditation to Turn Old Habits into New Beginnings”.

From Around the Web

Theresa Reed’s “Mad Hookups” for May are helpful, funny and resourceful. Plus, she included a link to one of my recent blog posts! Thanks, Theresa!

Lisa Boswell is a Gypsy Fortune Teller in the United Kingdom.  She has shared a blog post about Romany spiritual beliefs and practices. If you are curious about what it means to Lisa to be a Gypsy, check out Lisa’s blog!

This is a favorite piece of mine. If you’ve read it before, read it again. There is so much power and knowledge here. It’s called “Why it’s Crucial for Women to Heal the Mother Wound”.

Use Tarot to Define your Goal

If you are stuck trying to create a real and doable goal based on your hopes and dreams, tarot can help you! Follow these steps to define your goal.

First, look through your cards. Select five cards that represent your hopes and dreams. Spend some time thinking about these cards. Are these energies now present in your life? What do these cards have in common? What do they say about you?

Now, put these five cards to the side.

Shuffle the remaining deck, and think about your fears and obstacles. What keeps you from success? Pull three cards at random. Interpret them as your barriers and impediments.  What can you do to remove them? Is there a way you can use these energies to help you, rather than hurt you?

Now, take the five cards you chose to represent your hopes and dreams, and the three cards you drew at random to define your obstacles. Look at all eight images. Do they give you any ideas or thoughts? Do these cards tell you anything about yourself, or your path?

Finally, shuffle only these eight cards, while asking this question.

“What do I need to know or do to define the goal that will serve my highest good?”

Draw one card to answer the question.

This meditative process with the images and energies of tarot should help you define and set a clear goal for your future.

What’s up on the Psychic Café?

This week I am featuring an early episode of Christiana’s Psychic Café with Nancy Evans Bush. Nancy is the author of “Dancing Past the Dark: Distressing Near Death Experiences”. Nancy’s personal experience sent her on a journey to research near death experiences. She approaches this from a spiritual perspective that is hopeful and healing.

Clover from Gilded Reverie Lenormand, by Ciro Marchetti.

Learning Lenormand

Card Two: Clover

As you might expect, Clover is a card of quick luck. This card may encourage gambling and risk taking, or predict a happy chance meeting.

Whenever you see Clover, you can assume a bit of luck is coming. The question and the surrounding cards determine the type of luck.

The timing of Clover is quick. When you see this card, you can expect something to happen soon.

Clover may tell you to take advantage of a time-sensitive opportunity.

Like Card One, Rider, which we discussed last week, Clover is considered a positive card. Clover can lighten the mood of a dark card.

The caution that comes with Clover is this. Luck comes quickly, but it dissipates just as quickly. Clover may bring a random happiness, a great opportunity, or a win at the casino. Don’t expect the luck of the Clover to last, however.

Clover may refer to gambling, casinos, or, very literally, an herb garden.

The playing card association for Clover is Six of Diamonds. The interpretation for this is the reassurance that the help you need will be available to you at the right time. This is very similar to the related Six of Pentacles in tarot.

Next week, we will explore Card Three of the Petit Lenormand system, Ship.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one-card reading this week is the Three of Pentacles.

Typically, the Three of Pentacles is a great card for career growth and development. This card suggests creativity, recognition and reward in the workplace.

Often, this card appears to acknowledge your hard work, and your success.

If you are seeking a more rewarding career, or advancement in your current career, this card is here to remind you to believe in your success, and work toward it.

If you do not have or need a career, the Three of Pentacles reminds you to take your hobbies and interests seriously. Develop your talents, explore your creativity, and make these things a priority. Be willing to share your talents with others.

The Three of Pentacles is also a positive money card, suggesting financial improvement and stability.

This week, focus on doing things well, learning and growing. Believe in your success, whatever that means to you.

The Four Elements and the Major Arcana
Free WebEx Webinar Available Exclusively On Line
Thursday, May 21, 7 pm

The four elements of life are Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They each have metaphysical properties as well as physical properties.

The four elements correlate with the four suits of the Minor Arcana of the tarot. They also correlate with individual cards of the Major Arcana.

The term “Major Arcana” means “Greater Secrets.” The twenty-two cards of the Major Arcana contain the most spiritual messages and lessons of the tarot, and tell the story of our journey through life.

When we learn the elemental associations for each of the Major Arcana cards, we have a clear way to understand these important cards.

This 75-minute webinar will help the tarot student more fully understand the four elements. It will provide a deeper way to comprehend each of the Major Arcana cards. The student will be able to more fully interpret the Major Arcana cards, whether reading for yourself or others.

Refinement

If you follow astrology at all, you know we are now in another Mercury retrograde until July First. While many people bemoan the greater tendency to have missed connections and poor communication during a Mercury Rx, it is also a great time to clear away the clutter.

Writers love to edit during a Mercury retrograde. It’s an easy time to rearrange your wardrobe and get rid of the clothes you no longer wear.

Internally, now is a time to refine your goals. Release the thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve you. Whittle away what doesn’t work until you are left with clarity of purpose and intention.

It’s interesting that the word “refinement” is synonymous with “quality” and elegance” and yet refinement is actually the process of taking away the parts that aren’t useful.

Mercury retrograde is not a time to be feared. It is a time to move slowly and carefully through life. Be clear in your thoughts, words and actions, and use the Mercury retrograde energy to create refinement in your life.

Tarot Cards that Refine Us

There are a few cards that carry the message of refinement. That is, cards that may tell us it is time to let go of what doesn’t work, to release the things that hold us back, and to be more specific about the ways in which we achieve our goals. When you see these cards, consider the process of refining your life.

Any difficult card reversed, such as the Three, Eight, Nine, Ten of Swords, as well as the Devil reversed, can indicate taking the action that is necessary to remove oneself from a difficult situation.

The Eight of Cups teaches us to leave behind the emotions that no longer serve us.

The Eight of Pentacles teaches us to practice our skills to create perfection.

Temperance teaches us to forge the perfect and unique blend that works precisely.

Judgement teaches us to evaluate and learn from our past.

In what other tarot cards do you see the process of personal refinement?

Learning Tarot: Ace of Cups

The suit of Cups is related to the element of Water. In metaphysics we associate Water with emotion, matters of the heart, feelings, depth, intuition, love, attitudes and relationships. Each of the Cups cards will speak of emotions, feelings, and matters of the heart, in some way.

In tarot, the Aces represent new beginnings, and the source, root and essence of the suit element, in this case, Water.

The Ace of Cups, therefore, can predict a new love.

The Ace of Cups can represent the high vibration of unconditional love.

The Ace of Cups can represent love in all its forms.

The Ace of Cups can represent the healed heart; the open heart chakra ready to give and receive love.

Archetypically, we might see the Ace of Cups as the Holy Grail from the legends of King Arthur.

With this card we begin a journey to understand the nature of love.

Next week we will continue our journey with the Two of Cups.
